Morgan, president, was in charge of the meeting. Mrs: 'Ralph Craw ford conducted the devotional on "Spring." ' Mrs. Logan White gave the secro . tary's and treasurer's reports and Mrs. W. L. Amnions gave a finan cial report on the dinner served for the Inter-City, group. The club voted to assist the Canton Honiemaki'is with their party for service men at Oteen in August. The group also voted to hold an all-day meeting on May 28 with Mrs. H. L. Morgan to bring nv book reports. Icaders' reports were heard on gardens by Mrs. W. L. Mrs. Daisy Mann Is Honored At Birthday Party with a surprise birthday dinner Sunday, Amil 22. at the home of Mrs. Ilei'sche! Hipps. Associate hostesses for the occasion were (laughters and daughters-in-law of the honor guest Mrs. Robt. Hol land, Mrs. Lloyd Jones, Mrs. Car roll Kinsland. Mrs. Fred Mann, and Mrs. Thomas Mann. The dining table was decorated with tulips and other spring flow ers and held a large birthday cake, signifying the 63rd birthday of the honoree. Those present were Robert Hol land and son, Rirhard;-. Thomas Mann and sons, Gary antf Bobby; Fred Mann and children, Brenda, Carolyn Sh. Elizabeth and Charles Mann; The Rev. and Mrs. George Culbrcth and daughter, jLinda and Davis Weaver, Nancy ' and Her schel Hipps, Betty Ann and Shir ley Jones, Mrs. ; Hattie Holland, Mrs. J. D. Israel, Mrs. Hattie Hipps, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Israel and son, Olen Tathan. Carroll Kinsland, and Mrs. Clarence Mor row, Jr., and daughter of Pasa dena, Texas. Mrs. Mann is the mother of sev erv children, alt of whom were with jher on the occasion of her birth day with the exception of Mrs. . Howard Joy of Chamblee, Ga. She has sexteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Mann was the recipient of many gifts and messages of con gratulations. Dr. and Mrs. Phil Medford will leave tomorrow for Chapel Hill where they will spend the week end with the former's ; 'brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Albert P. Cline, Jr. Dr. Medford will spend the next week at Pinehurst attending the annual meeting of the North Carolina Dental Society, While Mrs, Medford remains in Chapel Hill. Hend ricks of Newport News, Va., form erly of Waynesville, have announc ed the marriage of their daughter. Mrs. Georgia Hendricks Powell of Richmond, Va., to Paul Margettes of Canada, Texas. The ceremony' took place in the home of the Rev. and Mrs. I.. W. Blackwetl at Newport News, Fri day, April 20. The date also riiark ed the thirtyighth vedding An niversary of the bride's parents. The bride, who was given in mar riage by her lather, wore an or chid suit with brown and white accessories. Her corsage Was a white orchid. Miss Maxinu Hendricks, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and wore a suit of Kelly green with cocoa brown accessories and a cor sage of gardenias. Lt.G. E. Hendricks of Norfolk. Va., brother of the bride, served as best man. Immediately alter the ceremony a reception was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hendricks. B Ledtilord, son of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Ledford of Hiawassee, Georgia The wedding will take place the latter part of May at Fort Benning, Georgia. Patricia McElroy Is Engaged To J. B. Ledford Mr. and Mrs. Everett A. McElroy of the Dellwood Road, announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Patricia Jean McElroy, to Pvt. J. B. Ledford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rowland B. Ledford of Hiawassee, Georgia. The wedding will take place the latter part of May in the post chapel at Fort Benning, Georgia. The bride-elect is a member of the senior class of the Waynesville Township High School. Pvt. Ledford is serving with' the AUbourne Division of, the, U. S. Army and is stationed at Fort Ben ning. Prior to his enlistment he was engaged in the furniture busi ness at Norwalk, Connecticut. Methodist Circles Will Meet Tuesday Circles of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the First Methodist church will meet Tues day, May 1, as follows: Circles l and 2 will meet at the church at 3:30 p. m. At this time names will be drawn for the circle organization for the new year. Circles 3. 5 and 6 will meet at the church at 7:30 p. m. Two members from each circle will serve as hostesses. Burnette presided and the de votional was given by Mrs. James Reeves. : Plans were made for the club's radio program to be given next Thursday during National Home Demonstration Week. A committee composed of Mrs. James Reeves, Mrs. Thomas Erwin and Mrs. George Allen was appoint ed to assist with the district meet ing.' Nurses Club Has Meeting The Haywood Countv Nurses Club held a regular meeting Mon day night at the Nurses' Home with Mrs. Warren Whitman presiding. the members answered the roll call with the name and location of the hospital from which they grad uated and it was noted that the nurses were graduated from hos pitals from Canada to Florida. Dr R. S. Roberson was the speaker of the evening and was introduced by Mrs. E; E. Fuller. Dr. Roberson spoke on Civil De fense. report on new medicines and their usage and Mrs. J. R. McCracken gave a report of the district meet ing held recently in Asheville. Following the meeting refresh ments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Brad Mehaffey, Mrs. Noble Ferguson and Mrs. Jack Rogers. Linda Wood Is Honored On 11th Birthday Mrs. Albert Wood of Thomas- 'Hile, entertjlned with a party honoring her daughter, Linda Wood, on her eleventh birthday, Sunday, April 22. The party was given at the home of the honor guest's grandmother, Mrsv Ada Galloway, in East Waynesville, A color motif of yellow and white was used in the decorations and refreshments. Attending the party were Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Mashb'urn of Bryson City, Mrs. Bud Bost, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brown, Jr., aunts and uncles of the guest of honor, and Mrs. J. Cornwell Club Holds Meeting The Cornwell Club of Saunook met on Monday evening in the home of Mrs. Leon Cross, with Mrs. James McClure, president, presid ing. During the business hour Mrs. Guy Queen and Mrs. Charles Beck were appointed as a cookie com mittee for the coffee hour at the Federation Meeting on May 8th. Mrs. James McClure, Mrs. James Garrett and Mrs. Herbert Single tary were appointed to serve On the window display committee to be featured during National Home Demonstration Week.
