Unveiling Of Marker Set For 30th In Try on Plans have been cumpletert fori me unveiling of a marker at Trni i commemorating the signing of a' treaty between Governor William I Tryon and the Cherokee Indians, fixing the Western Frontier of North Carolina. The treaty was signed July 15. 17G7. The marker is being erected by the Unaka Chapter No 2 nrth Carolina Society Daughters of the American Colonists, of which Mrs. K. N. Barber. Sr.. is regent. It is of granite, about five feet high and will have a bronze tablet near the center. The unveiling ceremony will take place Monday, April 30, at 12 o'clock noon, with Mis, Barber, presiding, v Dr. C. C. Crittenden, director of the State Department of Archives, and D. lliden Ramsey of Asheville will be the principal speakers. The unveiling will be by Mrs. Asbury Barnett of Asheville and Henry Bradley, Chief of the Cherokees. Invitations have been sent to all civic and patriotic organizations in the district and a number of state and national officers of the D.A.C. are expended to attend the program. A two- tiered wedding cake, topped with a wedding ring, was at one end of the table. Mrs. Ferguson is a graduate of the Waynesville Township High School and. at the time of her mar riage, was employed in I he Waynes ville office of the Southern Bell Telephone Company. Mr. Ferguson received his edu cation in I he Sylva schools and served four years with the U. S. Army during World War II He is now employed at the Dupont plant in Aiken. S.
