I'". SAI.KS Secretary-Treasurer W.N C. Field Trial Association A group of sportsmen met in Asheville last March, and organ ized the Western North Carolina field Trial Association, for - the purpose of running Held trials in this area. Heretofore, there has been very lillle interest in Irials In Western North Carolina, because, the aver age bird hunter thinks tha't in order to run a Kielil Trial it is necessary to have open country that could he hunted from horse- i back However, a group of inler I esled men felt that good Grouse j Trials, and possibly one course j Quail Trials could be run here land decided to do something about lit. The group vlsifed the Standing Indian Wildlife Management Area, I west of Franklin, in rebruary ot this year and found it excellently suited lo Grouse Trials, with plen iu nf hirds and terrain with roads and (rails, that with very little work could be laid out in pos sibly eight thirty-minute courses, courses on Which Hie judges and the official reporter could be j mounted, (everyone five walks in a Grouse Trial, just like ordinary bird hunting). As a result of this visit, the As sociation was organized A second meeting was held April 11th. and a third meeting will be held Wed nesday, May Kith., 8:00 p.m. in WANT ADS ATTENTION 200 yards fill dirt free to the first person applying.
