An" (omi,n Crawford and Julia Betty Jo Shops Wins Junior High Reading Contest Betty Jo Shops won first place in the First Annual Reading Con test for Junior High Girls sponsor ed by the Business and Profession al Women's Club. Second prize winner was Amelia Alexander with an honorable mention going to Ernestine Edwards. The contest took place yesterday morning. Mrs. Doyle Alley, president of the Waynesville B & PW Club, pre- sented the prizes. First Drize was a medal and a cash award; second prize was a silver dollar. Mrs. Alley was introduced by Carleton Weatherby, principal of the school. The contest was directed by a committee of teachers, including Mrs. George Bisson, chairman; Mrs. George Patrick, and Miss Catherine Hamilton, Mrs. M. An averaie nf 12,000 airmen now attend the 115 services offered by Lackland Air Force Base chaplains in the ten chapels on the base. There are more than 30 chaplains, representing all faiths. Sunday services are held from early morning until late evening. Because the chapels won't hold the crowds, two theaters and n larae assembly tent are used for religious services.
