The President, Mrs. Jess Moore, opened the meeting with de. votions, followed by the introduc tion of Mrs. C. M. Russell of .Miami, Fla Conference Mission Study Secretary, Mrs. Russell gave a talk on this subject, highlighting the work of the entire Conference in this particular department. Business of the circle included election of officers for the new Conference year. At the close of the program, summer refreshments were served by the joint hostesses. . Benefit Supper To Be Held At Parish House A benefit supper will be served at the Parish House of Grace Episcopal;-Church Thursday night at 6:30 o'clock. Every one is urged to attend. Miss Jane Wyche Entertains Attendants Miss Jane Wych? entertained her wedding attendants at a lunch eon in her home on Love Lane Fri day afternoon. A pink and white motif was ob served and the table was decorat ed with pink and white flowers. Corsages of pink sweetheart roses, inscribed with the names of the guests, marked the places and the attendants were presented gifts. Tommy Campboll Celebrates 9th Birthday Tommy Campbell celebrated his ninth birthday with a picnic sup per at the home of his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. L, K. Barbtr, Thursday night. II erman Phone 615 Miss Miriam Baskervllle Math ews, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Ed ward Gilmer Mathews of 2 Howl and Rd., Asheville, was married to William Blue Ray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Carl Ray, of Ocala, Florida and Asheville, Friday after noon at 4:30 o'clock in the home of the bride. The Rev. G. Grier Davis, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Asheville, pronounced the vows. The altar, improvised at the end of the living room, was banked with Oregon fern, interspersed with seven-branched candelabra hold ing cathedral candles. Arrange ments of white flowers were used throughout the home. : ; l Mr?, CarL Plonk presented the wedding music The bride, who was given in mar riage by her father, wore a white satin gown, fashioned with a high neckline and scalloped marquisette yoke trimmed in seed pearls. The full skirt extended into a circular train. Her ; three-tiered veil of French illusion was attached to a coronet of shirred illusion and seed pearls and she carried a cas cade bouquet of white asters cent ered with white orchids. Miss Dorothy Mathews was her sister's maid of honor and only at tendant. She wore a gown of aqua nylon tulle designed with a bateau necline, fitted bodice and bouffant skirt. She carried a cascade bou quet of lavender and purple asters. Walter Carl Ray, Jr., of Ocala. brother of the bridegroom, was best man and serving as ushers were William Watson Richardson, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, James E. Blocker, and John Craggs, all of Ocala. A reception was held immediate ly following the : ceremony for the two families, out-of-town guests,, and close friends. Mrs. Mathews, mother of the bride, wore a dress of ashes of roses crepe with an orchid corsage. The mother of the bridegroom wore French blue crepe with an orchid corsage. - After the reception the couple left by motor for a wedding trip through the New England States in to Canada. For (traveling the bride wore a royal blue wool crepe suit with black accessories and the or chid from her wedding bouquet. Upon their return they will re side in Gainesville, Florida where the bridegroom will attend grad uate school at the University of Florida. Mrs. Ray was graduated from The Plonk School of Creative Arts and St. Genevieve-of-the-Pines Junior College, Asheville. She is a former member of the Asheville Junior Assembly. Mr. Ray attended Ocala High School and Darlington School for Boys at Rome Georgia and is a graduate of Davidson College. He is a member of the Phi Delta Theta social fraternity. Concert Is Given At High, Valley A number of Waynesville guests attended the cdncert held at High Valley Camp on the Pigeon Road Sunday afternoon. Featured artists for the concert were Sol. B. Cohen, violinist; Juli us Cohen, pianist; and David Ray Smith, bass baritone. ' ' ...-.-' Pvt Garland Saunders is spend ing a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wade Saunders, of Hazelwood. Pvt.
