Illustrated Lecture
Well Attended And
Well Received
More than 500 people attended
the illustrated lecture given Mon
day night in the courthouse by
Park Naturalist, Arthur Stupka, of
the Great Smoky Mountains Na
tional Park.
The talk, titled "Along Great
Smokies Trails," took the enthral
led audience off the highways of
the park, and, by means of koda

seldom seen by the average tour

time to cover half the ground or see
half the scenes shown in the, 11
hour lecture.
. Mr. "Stupka, who has served ns
Naturalist' for the Park for 16
years, was sponsored by the Cham

he can return next year with
another lecture and still more spec

Waynesville received a gracious
compliment the other day in a let

Mrs. Zorbaugh came to the Great
Smokies in a search "for a site
which would meet our discriminat

home," They came "Armed with
government maps and 'inside dope'
furnished by Park officials and
forestry experts at Duke Univer
sity." Two weeks "of discourage
ment and constant search" went by
before they arrived in Waynesville.
Soon they found an "ideal spot ad
jacent to the University of Miami
colony development under the be
nevolent paternalism of Mr. C. D.
Walker." , : . ; ....
The letter continued: "We were
not easily satisfied since our grove
in Miami is beautifully situated on
