He is to be stationed at Camp LeJeune. The Bethel Methodist Youth Pel lowship gave a going-away party Thursday night in honor of five young people who will soon leave for school. Terrell and Bobby Fore, Mars Hill College; and Emily Michael, Salem Academy. In Korea 1 William C. Welch, Jr., is now sta tioned in Korea, after i months of training in the Army. He fin ished his 14 weeks training on August 4, in Hawaii, and went on to Korea from there. His com manding officer ' stated that the former Iron Duff student had maintained a rating of "excel lent' throughout his training period. He is in the infantry, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. This surely proves that the old-time community spirit of lending a helping hand to a neighbor is still alive, and that is something In these busy times when almost every man seems to be for himself. Mrs, Ruby Williams Kelley, for merly of this community, and now living in Arlington, Va., has re turned to her home after spending a month with her mother, Mrs. Bill Williams and brother Teague Wil liams. While visiting here, Mrs, Kelley was joined by her moiher-in-law Mrs. Clarence Kelley of Washington, D. C. They both left by train from Asheville. , Mrs. Edna, Williams and small baby, are visiting her mother Mrs. Sallie Sutton. Mrs. Williams lives in Pennsylvania, Mrs. Grace Giles has returned to her home in Hampton, Va after spending several weeks with her dauhgter Mrs. Joe Davis of White Oak. Smathers of Atlanta spent two weeks here with his grandmother, Mrs. Will Hipps. Recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Boring on White Oak were Mr. and Mrs. John Bliss of St. Petersburg, Fla. Also Mr. Roux Smith, Dad Brewer, and Miss Addle Brewer, of the Gulf Beaches, St. Petersburgh, Fla. The Brewers have bought a place near Franklin, and Addie is scheduled to teach at the High School In Franklin this year. The wagon wheel painted white and trimmed in black' with four mail boxes mounted on the wheel, Is causing a lot of comment and Interest. The program was "Religion and Economics" which was handled by Mrs. June Trantburn and Mrs. Willis Hipps. The group voted to let the Rock wood ladles have the Haywood County Zohe meeting because of the fact that the Plains Church is not sufficiently completed to serve lunch to 300 people. Church.
