Brown, who has been supervisor of the Waynesville District and Haywood County Schools, has accepted a position as supervising teacher in the training school at Western Carolina Teach ers College. She left Monday to as sume her new duties but will con tinue to reside in Waynesville. Mrs. Brown holds an A. B. de gree from Teachers Colleg in Greenville, N. C. and a Master's i degree from Columbia University, (lew York. She has also done grad uate work at the University of Cali fornia and National University at Mexico City. She taught in the Training School of Western Carolina Teach ers College before coming to Way nesville and served as assistant dean of women for the summer school. D.A.R. Chapter Will Meet With Miss Stringfield The initial fall meeting of the Dorcas Bell Love Chapter, DauRh- ters of the American Revolution will be held Friday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock in the home of Miss Martha Stringfield on Walnut Street. Mrs. Joe Boone, home manage ment and education leader, gave a report emphasizing the value of the Nickel for Know How program. Miss Howell c Graduates From Nursing School Miss Marian Ellis Howell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. V. Howell of Waynesville, was grad uated from' Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte, August 23. The Rt. Rev. Monslgnor John P. Manley, V. F., pastor of St. Pat rick's Church, Charlotte, presided at the graduation exercises and Dr. Allen B. Choate presented diplomas to the 31 graduates. Dr. Claude B. Squires made the pre sentation of class pins. Miss Howell entered the Mercy Schobl of Nursing' in September, 1948 and was outstanding in school activities during her student years. She served on the Student Coun- cil, was a member of the Glee Club and had a leading part in 'Hits and Bits," a minstrel given by the school in 1949 and 1950. She was affiliated in psychiatry at Seton Institution. Baltimore. Md., for six months during laou. Miss Howell now has a position with Dr. Vann M. Matthews, Char lotte.
