Mrs. Sam Queen, county superintendent of welfare, announced today. For a number of years The Mountaineer has published a list of needy persons furnished bv the welfare department, and individual families and small groups have ar ranged to furnish food and clothing and Christmas gifts for those in need. The welfare list will not be pub lished by The Mountaineer this year because civic groups have tak en on the responsibility of caring for those in unfortunate circum stances, Mrs. Queen said. However, the opportunity still exists for individuals to provide holiday cheer for the needy; the welfare superintendent emphasized. She asserted that civic groups will welcome help in its relief program from all interested persons.
