HENRy GARNER Community Reporter The West Pigeon Community De velopment Club met Thursday evening at the Bethel school. The meeting was called to order by the chairman, R. C. Sheffield. The highlight of the meeting was the program built around the theme "The Family Needs Good Music". Guests on the program were Mr and Mrs. Bob Matthews of Canton. Mr. Matthews was. for twenty years, pianist and music'leader for the great Evangelist Billy Sunday, and is now music instructor at the Bethel School. The Rev. Archie Graham, pastor of the Bethel Presbyterian Church conducted an installation service for the new officers and adult ad visors of the Youth Fellowship of the Church at their last meeting The following officers were install ed in an impressive candlelight service: president, Melvin Ear ley vice president, Jeane Mann; sec retary. Rosemary West; treasurer, Annette Sheffield. The following Commission Chairmen were also Installed; Christian faith, Russell Terrell; Christian witness. I.ynn Harkins; t hristian outreach Billy Terrell; l iristian citizenship, Clif ton Terrell; and Christian fellow ship, Jeannette Sheffield. Mrs. Clif ton Terrell and Mrs. Henry Gar ner were installed as adult advis ors of the PYF. Following the installation serv ice Blake Breitenhart, student as sistant to Mr. Graham, entertained the group with colored slides, with explanation of his trip through Europe last summer, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Millo and children. Mrs. Wallace Crocker and three children of Smithfteld, Va., are visiting the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mauney. Calvin Butler of Gastonia is spending this week at the home of his sister, Mrs. Lockie Grooms. Mr. Butler came to be with his father, Russell Butler, who is ill. Pfc. William Phillips, who is stationed at Aberdeen, Maryland, is spending a 12-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Phillips. Mrs. Julia Hannah of Newton and Mrs. Isaac Brown of Cosby, Tenn., are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Howard Medford. Mr. and Mrs. Bartley Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Medford, and Clyde Caldwell attended funeral services at Waterville Sunday for their cousin, James Caldwell, who died as a result of Injuries receiv ed in a car wreck. The Young People's Training Union of Riverside Baptist Church will have a social and watermelon cutting Friday night.
