Miss Mary Jane Clark, to Ray Wayne Haynes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert Hynes also of Clyde, Route 1. The wedding took place Satur day, September 26 in the home of the Rev. Carl Cook, who perform ed the ceremony. A small group of friends was present. Both Mr. and Mrs. Haynes are graduates of the Fines Creek High School. A coffee hour will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by registration at 10 o'clock. Among the special guests and speakers will be Mrs. Grady E. Kirkrnan of Greensboro, state president; Mrs. J. O. Brown of Charlotte, Ind vice president; and Mrs. Robert T. Bridges of Greens boro, 3rd vice president. Mrs. J. Ramsey Buchanan of Sylva, district president, will pre side. Cpl. Pritchard Smith, Jr., mem ber of the State Highway Patrol, will be on the program and will make a short talk on Safety. Special music will be presented by Mrs. .Ellen Fox Way, vocalist, accompanied by Miss Pearl Harris. Luncheon will be served by the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the church, under the direction of Mrs. C. C. White. The district includes clubs of Cherokee, Clay, Jackson, Haywood, Graham, Macon, and Swain Coun ties. Emmett Balentine, Jr. To Get 10-Day Leave Pfe. Emmett Balentine, Jr., will arrive tomorrow from the Marine Base at Parris Island to spend a ten-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Balentine. Pfc. Balentine entered the ser vice following graduation from Waynesville High School last spring and has just completed his basic training. He was also selected from a large group of Marine-musicians to play in the Parris Island Post Band and will return to his duties there following his leave. HDC Council Makes Plans For Achievement Day Plans for the annual Home Dem onstration Achievement Day and Tobacco Exhibits were completed at a meeting of the Haywood Coun ty Council bl Home Demonstration Clubs Tuesday in the Court Room. Dates set for the exhibits are Tues day and Wednesday, November 17 and 18. Mrs. Carl Medford, president of the Council, presided and the fol lowing committee was named to complete a score sheet for judging the exhibits by the Danish system of merit: Miss Kate Phillips, Lake side Club; Mrs. Lee Evans, Dell wood; Mrs. Steve Plemmons, Sau nook; Mrs. C. L. White, Maggie; Mrs. Hugh Noland, Crabtree-Hyder Mountain; Mrs. J. E. Burnett, Cecil; Mrs. Cromer Crisp, West Canton; Mrs. Gudger Hipps, Rogers Cove; and Mrs. Fred Plott, Fairview. The committee will meet Tuesday morn ing, October 6 in the Court Room at 10 o'clock. Announcements were made con cerning the State Fair, which will mark its 100th anniversary this year. Clubs were asked to submit individual entries in the Home Making Departments. It was decided that all clubs will hold reorganization meetings in No vember and choose project leaders and committee chairmen before January 1. Club presidents were asked to serve In an advisory ca pacity on the Home Arts Building Committee. The council adopted a project, presented by O. L. Yates, district representative of the Farm Bureau, to direct a membership drive for the Farm Bureau. Plans were made for a meeting to be held October 13 at which time Jack Lynn, mem ber of the national executive board of the Farm Bureau and former Haywood farm agent, will speak. A nominating committee was named to present a slate of officers at the next meeting. The committee is composed of Mrs. Paul Hyatt, McKimmon Club; Mrs. C. L. White, Maggie: and Mrs. Fred L.
