Sees Slides Of
Field Days

The C. D. P. had their regular
meeting Monday night at 7^)U. The
group sang two songs and Mrs.
Walter Rhodarmer led the prayer.;
Business was condueted by the
chairman. Loyde Justice, the re
port of the progress on the com-,
munity house was discussed.
The Blue Cross - Blue Shield In-1
surlance will be due the 10th of
October, and Mrs. Sam Jackson
was appointed to take Mrs. Henry
Osborne's place as being respon-1
sible for the collecting of the in- i
surance. Those who carry this in-;
surance will please see that the
money is turned in to Mrs. Jack
son before the 10th of October.
The program was turned over to
Mr. R. C. Sheffield, who came as
a visitor froln West Pigeon, and
showed slides in color of the dif
ferent community picnics and tours
held this summer. Many of the
South Clyde people saw their own
picture on the slides. The people
wish to thank Mr. Sheffield.
Plans are that Miss Kate Robin
son, who toured Europe this past
summer, will show some slides of
her trip at the next meeting. It j
will bet held the second Monday
night in October, the 12th. The
meeting was well attended this \
week.
The M. Y. F. of Louisa Chapel
went to Heintooga for a picnic sup- i
per last week. They were accom
panied by Kyle Lindsey, counselor
ior the group. There were nineteen
in the group. All reported a won
derful time.

President Eisenhower to fill the
vacancy on the Supreme Court
bench created by the death of
Chief Justice Fred Vinson. The
new member of the supreme
court is scheduled to take office
to be on the bench when the fall
term opens Monday. The Cali
fornian is 62 years old.

The revival at the Laurel Grove
Baptist Church is continuing
through this week.

cently to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ens
ley of Canton, so stated Mrs. Edith
B. Young. This tract includes the
house and 45 acres.

ity this week for the driver Jim
Miller. The children are most ap

Horace Ledbetter, 79, father of
Mrs. H. S. Rogers, J. P., and Bant
Ledbetter, is seriously ill at the
Haywood County Hospital.

at Mars Hill College on Tuesday ;
on the occasion of her birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Johil L. Bewick,
of Hollywood, Fla., arrived at Rev.
Gardner's cabin, "Millrun" last
Thursday.

drove them to Wa?on Road Gap;
and Pisgah Inn.
They have also motored to Gat
linburg and Ridgecrest, and had' a
conducted tour of Champion Paper
and Fibre Co. and Mars Hill Col
lege. Mrs. Burnett accompanied the
guests to the mill, and all Were
dinner guests of Miss Grace Erwin
at Marj. Hill College on Wednesday
afternoon.
The lovely scenery, ideal weath
er, and friendly people impressed
them greatly. They are looking
forward to a return visit next year.
Frank Sorrells, Jr., accidentally
cut his left thumb with an axe
while splitting wood at his home on
Monday evening. The axe hit an
overhead rafter under the wood
shed. The physician had to put
stitches in both sides of the thumb.
Glenn Parris has returned from
Davenport, Iowa, where he visited
relatives for a week.
Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Warren, Jr.,
sold their home this week to Mr.
and Mrs. Grao"y Warren, of Canton,
who moved in Tuesday.

down until the first of the year.
