She it was who invited Him into their home, and busied hei self in preparing a imeal for the guest. I think most women sym pathize with Martha who felt she was "cumbered about much serv ing." and think her reproof of Mary, who sat at the Lord's feel listening to Him. was justified. However, there is Mary's side too. Possibly Martha was plan ning a too-sumptuous meal in volving much labor, and Mary may have thought the* precious Words she was hearing were more important than preparing an elaborate meal. And, too. she may have been" planning to aid her ] sister when Jesus had finished what Ho was saying. In writing to the Kphesians, ? Paul set forth his ideas for a happy home. He says, "Wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands." This does not mean ( that a wife should give up her own personality, we may assume. Where husband and wife love - each other and have mutual re spect, there is no discrepancy. Children should obey their par ents, and honor them, and fathers are told not to provoke their children. Deep mutual love and understanding in a happy Christ ian home would naturally lead " -to these conditions. God is love, 1 and love of Him and each other must necessarily make homes happy. B ?
