Governor Cmstead also pointed out tbat it had been his observation that horse show's of the type staged here was among the best tourist attractions. C. C. League, vice presiden of the Horse Show Association, said that membership tickets which went on sale 10 davs ago were selling "exceptionally well" and the directors were "highly pleas ed" with the response to the project. W, Reed, Leading, p Hollis Chase, Esquire; and Junaluska Baptists To Give Play Sunday The Christmas program of the Lake Junaluska Baptist church will be presented Sunday evening at 7:30. Tha program consists of recitations, pageant and play. The title of the play to be pre sented is "White Christmas". It is in drama form and based on the Christmas Story. The cast includ es Jessie Mae Brown, Wayne Sut tles, Marie Moody, Betty Ann Ril ey, Olo Gaddis, Dwain Burress, Frances Banks and Velma Riley. Tony Davis, Chaplain. Special music will be presented by Charles Isley, soloist, and Rob ert Campbell, organist. The public is invited. Band And Chorus Will Present Christmas Concert A Christmas concert will be pre sented by the Waynesville High School Concert Band and Chorus in the school auditorium to night at 8 o'clock. The groups will be directed by Charles Isfe.v, head of the music department, and Robert Campbell. The Hammond organ, recently acquired by the Music Depart ment, will be plftyed lor th^.firsf tfljle in a concert and the harp,' also 'a recent addition, will be feat ured. The first half of the program will be devoted to selections from The Messiah by Handel. The open ing number,, the Overture to the Messiah, will be played by the band with organ accompaniment played by Henry Lofquist, instruc tor in piano, organ, and harp. This will be followed by alternate numbers by the band and chorus. Chorus soloists will be John Cal houn, tenor; Carol Webb, contral to and Juanita Kelly, soprano. The last part of the program will include two favorites by the band, "Sleigh Ride," by Anderson and "Rudolph the Red Nosed Rein deer". The chorus will sing a group of carols with piano accompani ment by Sylvia Newell and organ accompaniment by Mr. Lofquist. Rosalind Ammons, Mary Ann Fish er, and Grey Watkins, students, will alternate with harp accompani ment. The closing number will be "Noel" presented by the band and chorus. Youth Give Yule Programs In Iron Duff By Mrs. Ray Milner Community Reporter The young people at both the Antoich Baptist Church and Davis Chapel Methodist Church will give Christmas programs this week. The Baptist youth will present a play, "Search ior the Christ Child"', Sunday night, December ,20. at 7:30. There will also be songs and recltttibns by the youngsters. Santa Claus will be there with treats for everyone. The Methodist Sunday School will give their Christmas program Sunday morning, the 20th. Every one is invited. We are all very sorry to hear that, due to illness. Mrs. Manson Medford was unable to make the trip which she won to Chicago to the Farm Bureau Convention. J. R. Caldwell left Saturday for Chicago to attend this same con vention. Dan Davis, who is in the Army and stationed at Fort Jackson. S. C., spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Davis. Jean and Frank Medford, stu dents at W.C.C. arrived home last Friday to spend the Christmas holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Medford. Joan has completed her studies and accept ed a position as teacher in the new Central Elementary School SHOES AND CLOTHING are again bring provided for under privileged children of the western section of Haywood County by the Waynesville Lions Club. These three children were among those fitted by Mrs. Homer West Tuesday at Ray's Department Store. looking on is Jerry Rogers, a member of the Lions Club. Bethel Group To Prepare Fruit Baskets For 111 The Young Women's Auxiliary j of the Bethel Baptist Church met Dec. 14th at the home of Mrs. : Homer West with fourteen mem bers present. Mrs, Jack Allison-led the group in prayer. Those taking part on the program were: Annette Lowe, Martha Presley, Johnnie Kinsland Dorothy Lowe.
