The setting was a French street scene and the banquet was j served at a "sidewalk cafe." Tommy Sichols, class president,' served as master of ceremonies. A program of entertainment was presented by members of the fac ulty and representatives of the junior class. The faculty members did pantomimes with recordings of varlods singers and musicians. Taking part were Mrs. Alma Jack son Williams. Mrs. Eric Beraza, Miss Bess Francis, Mrs. John Moore, Mrs. Frank Arnett, Miss Margaret Perry, Robert Campbell, Mrs. M. H. Cooper. Miss Bessie Boyd, Roy Haupt, M. H. Bowles. Thomas J Scolt, and Willjam Mas. sie. A French dance was presented i by junior girls. Kathryn McCrack en, Patsy Holder, Plorepce Ann Bowles, Betty Brendle, Kathryn Grasty and Dale Hall and the fol lowing junior boys gave a com plete rendition of "Davy Crockett": Doug Moody, Jitii Gaddis, Tommy Owens, Tony Davis, and Tom Bridges. Mrs. Bert Wahlgren presented the program using as her subject, "Layering and Propagation." She discussed methods of multiplying plants and shrubs. Mrs. P. E. Fulbright, Furman University junior from Waynes vine, has been elected president of the Beta Mu chapter of Kappa Phi Kappa at Furman University. Kappa Phi Kappa is a national honorary professional education fraternity with chapters in most states, Fulbright is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Fulbright of Rt. 3. Waynesrille.' Following the program the group was invited to view special exhibits , in each of the class rooms. Refreshments were served in the school cafeteria. After her retirement, Mrs. Cov ington plans to reside in Asheville at her home on Cumberland Ave nue. ? * * Dinner-Program Planned For Central PTA The Central Elementary Par ent-Teacher Association will hold its last meeting of the year Sat urday night. May 21, instead of Tuesday night as originally plan ned. At the same time a fund-raising family dinner will be served in the school cafeteria, proceeds from which will go in a fund to build a paved, all-weather playground area for the school. A program will be presented . following the dinner and will in clude the presentation of the finals i of the speech and declamation 1 contests for the school.
