Waynesville scored in the third inning with one away when Hill doubled, Edwards singled, and Robinson bunted, bringing in Hill. Canton tied it up in the fifth as Cannon walked and stole second, West and Anderson fanned. War ren singled, scoring Milner who was running for Cannon. The winning run for the bruins came in the sixth inning when Wil son tripled and then scored on Morgan's single. As it was, Coach Jaynes' Moun taineers performed much more creditably Saturday than they did in the first meeting of the two rivals when Canton won 9-4. The Bears now lead the Blue Ridge Conference with a 9-1 record. George Rufus Liner, also 11 of the U. S. Navy. Henson, Sr., 69. of Rutherfordton, died early Friday morning in a Gastonia hospital where she had been a patient for the past seven and one-half months. A native of Waynesville Mrs. Henson was the former Miss Clara Turbyfill, daughter of the late P. L. and Julia Tate Turbyfill. She moved from Waynesville about thirty years ago. Her husband, a former liquidating agent for tbe North Carolina Banking Commis sion, died twenty years ago. Mrs. Henson Was a member of tbe Spindale Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Spindale church. The pastor, the Rev. Jesse Wilkinson, officiated assisted by the Rev. Courtney Ross, a former pastor. Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery, here, where grave side rites were conducted by Mr. Wilkinson. Mrs. Henson is survived by two sons. G N. Henson. Jr. of Gastonia and William M. Henson of Ruther fordton; two daughters. Mrs. F. E. Perry of Belmont and Mrs. C. H. Thomasson of Columhia, S. C.; and five grandchildren. Alsq two brothers, C. O. Turby fill of New York City and Pinkney L. Turbyfill of Elmer, N. J. and Waynesville, and two sisters, Mrs. O. R. Martin of Waynesville and Mrs. J. C. Turner of Elmer, N. J. Mrs. Bryson j Dies At 80 Mrs. Carrie Smathers Bryson. 80, died at 9:20 a.m. Suhday in the Haywood County Hospital after a brief illness. She was a native of Buncombe ' County and had resided most of ' her lift in Haywood County. She was a daughter of the late , Loranzo Owenby Smathers. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. W. It. Allen, Mrs. Elmer Kuy kendall and Mrs. Frank Ensley of Canton: two sons, J. E. Bryson of Canton, and Bay Mann of New York; five brothers. Arthur Smath ers of Asheville, E. G., Lester and H. A. Smathers, all of Canton and Lyda Smathers of Ft. Lauderdale, 1 Fla ; one sister, Mrs. C. Y. Hyams of Canton; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchilderen. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Central Meth odist Church at Canton. The Rev. Cecil Hefner will officiate and bur ial will be in Bon-^-Venture Ceme tery. The body will lie in state at the church 30 minutes before the serv cies. Pallbearers will be James A. Bryson, Eugene Grogan, Ernest ! Ivester, Jimmie Howard, Bruce Ensley and Joel Kuykendall. Granddaughters will be flower bearers. The body has been taken to the home of Mrs. Elmer Kuykendall. ! Wells Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. DEATHS WEBB INFANT Patricia Gail Webb, one-day-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dalthard Webb of Waynesville, died Satur day in the Haywood County Hos pital. Graveside rites were held Sun day afternoon in the Crawford Memorial Park with the Rev. Jar vis Brock officiating. Surviving, in addition to the par ents ,are one sister, Sharon; the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Webb of Waynesville; and the maternal grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Furman Vinson of High lands. Crawford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. MKS. MARY CON LEY Mrs. Mary Magdalene Conley, 85. died at her home in Canton Friday afternoon. Surviving are two sons. Lee of Canton and James of Canton; four daughters, Mrs. Charlie Babb of LaFayette, Tenn., Mrs. Aaron G. Graham of Saluda, S. C., Miss Mary Conley of Canton, and Mrs. George Simpson of Canton; 41 grandchildren. 81 great-grandchil dren; and 14 great-great-grandchil dren. Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Canton Sunday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. B. F. Brewer officiating: Burial was in the church ceme tery.
