Canton will be idle tomorrow night and Clyde will invade Old Fort. The Mountaineers had to turn on the steam against Clyde in the fourth quarter for a narrow 51-50 win after trailing from the early minutes of the first quarter. It was Hooper's Jump shots that finally j turned the tide for the Gold and Black Friday night and gave them their fourth victory without a loss. The Waynesville girls got back on the victory trail with a 71-49 win over Clyde ? paced by Agnes Roberson and Tulan Carver, whose combined point total was 56. Coach Joe Turner has two good teams at Fines Creek and his split games with Crabtree-lron Duff," Valley Springs, Leicester, Bethel, and Flat Rock. After a double loss to Leicester last Tuesday, the Bethel Blue Demons and Belles rebounded Fri day for a double victory over Reynolds High of Buncombe County. The high-scoring, fast-breaking Blue Demons appear to have too much power for the Crabtree boys, but the girls' game may prove to be a real scrap. Last year, the C-1D lassies handed the Belles their only loss of the year and are fully capable of turning them back again. However, being on their own floor, may give the Bethel sextet the edge. Denied an unset victory over Waynesville here Friday night, the smooth-playing Clyde Cardinals will be out to even their season's record at 2-2 at the expense of Old Fort tomorrow night. Against the Mountaineers, the Cardinals showed a good eye for the basketball and frequently got the rebounds from the taller Waynesville players. On Thursday and Friday nights, possibly for the only time this season, all six Haywood County cage teams will be playing within the county. Waynesville will be at Crabtree lron Duff Thursday night, and Canton will be at Bethel and Fines Creek at Clyde Friday night. Curious Cat Lived BECKLEY. W. Va. (API ? C. Harold Hanks.
