tion, known to the atudents as
The C.Y.O. has itarted a p-ayer
At each meeting aorne church
leader ia invited to apeak and
roundtable discussions are held,
the C Y.O. has started a prayer
meeting every Sunday night after
church for all youth who wish to
pray and talk with God. These
meetings have been an inspiration
to all who have attended. There
It a wonderful feeling of peace,
happiness, and contentment after
?ach meeting for everyone. The
C.Y.O. and the prayer meeting are
the most wonderful things that
have happened to CHS. Every
school should have a C.Y.O. and
its functions.
We actually survived those hor
rible exams and then the results
which are on a little piece of paper,
known to all as repoft cards. Now,
all can turn over a fresh leaf and
?tart a new semester of struggle.
This week the polio drive is in
full swing. We hope to collect a
generous amount for such a worthy
cause.
The Black Bear boy* beat Crab
tree and Brevard last week. The
girls were not quit* as lucky, but
came out with one loss to Crab
tree and one victory over Brevard.
The girls have certainly Improved
and we are behind them one hun
dred per cent. This Friday we
play host to Asheville School. The
soccer team has done fine this year
with two wins over Bethel. They
meet Asheville School on Friday.

ior Achievement Companies have
just returned from Birmingham.
Alabama, where they attended a
conference with companies from
all over the southeastern United
States represented. The compan
ies attended discussion groups,
visited the T.C.I, steel mills, and
enjoyed the entertainment provid
ed while in Birmingham. CHS
was represented by George Free
man. Ralph Stiles. Reeves Reeves,
Bobby Edwards. Jimmy Hegler and
Mickey Anderson from Progres
sive Achievement and Pat Cody
from Novelty Troy Company The
group had a wonderful time.

Thomason and Drayton Shull as
representative* for the All State
Band. Diane plays first seat cor
net and trumpet and Drayton plays
first seat oboe. Congratulations,
girls!

Mrs. Henry Francis and Mrs.
Clinton McElroy visited Mrs.
Francis1 son and daughter-in-law.

Olive last week.
Oscar Hedrick is in Richmond,
Va. visiting his son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Hardy
King.
Mrs. W K. Boone, who has been
ill for several days, is improving.
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Holbrook, of
Albermarle, were weekend guests
of their son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Pink Francis.
The C D.P. wil hold a regular
meeting at the church tonight at
7.30 o'clock.

lowhee Tuesday. January 31.

ident. and will preside over the
meeting and board of directors,
which will meet prior to the gen
eral meeting.
W. Curtis Ruas, Waynesville, is
a director of the organization.
