The Haywood County Board of Commissioners will sit as
a Board of Equalisation and Review beginning Monday, March
v 12th, at the commissioner's office in the Court House in the
town of Waynesville, for the purpose of examining and review
ing the tax list of each township for the current year and shall
hear any and all taxpayers who own or control taxable property
assessed for taxation in the county, in respect to the valuation
of all property in the county and correct any errors appearing
on the abstract and for transaction of any other business which
may come before the board in compliance with the Machinery
Act of 1937. This is the only time in which the commissioners
have the authority to change valuation of real estate.
Complaints from the various townships will
be heard as follows:
Monday, March 12 ? Ivy Hill, Jonathan Creek,
White Oak, Cataloochee Townships.
Tuesday, March 13 ? Fines Creek, Crabtree,
Iron Duff Townships.
Wednesday, March 14 ? Pigeon, East Fork,
Clyde, Cecil Townships.

Thursday, March 15 ? Beaverdam Township.
Friday, March 16 ? Waynesville Township.

last week with an average attend

ed by Mrs. Roy Edwards taught the
junior classes.
Alonzo Warren and his son,
Charles Warren of Brevard spent
a few days in Winston-Salem last
week.
Mrs Olin Crocker of CherryvlUe,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. S.
Rogers underwent surgery in a hos
pital in Lincolnton last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Cham
bers are building a new home on
the lot adjoining their present
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Trull of
Bethel have started construction of
a new home.
Sgt. and Mrs. Samuel Trull and
son, Sammy, arrived recently from
Munich. Germany where Sgt. Trull
has been stationed with the Army.
He will report to Fort Ord. Cali
fornia, March 25, and Mrs. Trull
and their son will remain with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Par
ris.

Entertains At
Birthday Party

Mrs. Frank Leopard entertained
at a birthday dinner on Sunday in
honor of Mr. Leopard; a son, Bill
Leopard; a son-in-law, Joe Howell;
and the Rev. Gay Chambers, all
having observed birthdays within
the past week. Those present in
cluded families of the honor guests
and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Wright and
children of Brevard, Mr. and Mrs.
Billy Finger and David of Maggie,
Mr. and Mrs. Lent Leopard and
children, and Mr. and Mrs. Troy
Franklin.
The Rev. Elmer Green, Baptist
missionary for Haywood County,
met with the W.M.U. and Brother
hood members on Monday night at
the Baptist church. Two filmstrlps
on missions were shown by Mr.
Green. Immediately fallowing the
W.M.U. met for the first in a series
of programs on Home Missions.
Those taking part were Mrs. Roy
Meador. Mrs. Troy Franklin. Mrs.
Mark Palmer. Mrs. Algie Ratcliffe
and Mrs. Grover Francis.
The W.M.U. met Tuesday night
with Mrs. Grace Camp for the reg
ular monthly meeting. Mrs. George
Liner had charge of the program.
Mrs. Camp gave the devotional and
several members took part. The
next meeting will be held with Mrs.
Bob Caldwell in April.
Cpl. Charles Gaddy spent the
weekend with his wife and par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Turner Gaddy.
He was enroute to Camp Lejeune
where he has been transferred from
the Aircraft Carrier USS Leyte in
New York.
R. V. Ford is a patient at Hay
wood County Hospital.

meeting Tuesday night, March 13
