I Tommy N orris Opens TV-Radio Repair Shop Tommy Norris of Waynesville, I a student In the adult electronics course at WTHS for the past year , and a half, has opened his own , television and radio repair shop , at his home on Hazel St., near the | intersection of Walnut St., across , from the Haywood Motor Inn. , ( Tommy, a familiar figure around town in his little blue car, has ; acquired a stock of equipment and i tools worth $1,000, a complete li- 1 brary of TV and radio repair man uals valued at $500, and $500 1 worth of spare parts. Tommy explained that his man- ? uals deal with every television and radio set manufactured since 1946, eliminating the "trial and error" type of servicing. Working with Tommy will be Jim Sisk, also an adult student in the WTHS electronics course, who will make house calls and do min- h or repairs in home, and Phil , Bright, who will help in the shop on Hazel St. Tommy disclosed that he has been interested in radio and tele vision since 1947 and has been studying the subject constantly since then. Since enrolling in Y. F. Burgess' electronics class at Waynesville High, Tommy has built his own television sq? and also has invent ed an overload tester, which per mits testing of television and radio chassis without removing it from the cabinet, thus saving valuable 1 time to repairmen. The device can be utilized to make voltage, current, and resist ?nce tests and is especially useful when television or radio tubes burn out frequently. Tommy is now seeking to patent his new overload tester. In connection with his electron ics work. Tommy won a prize in the N. C. State Fair last fall with his "phantom record player." Tommy has been paralyzed from the waist down ever since he was Injured while diving at Lake Junaluska in 1945. Wade E. Inman Serving Aboard USS Wagner Wade E.
