FFA Speech Contest
Allen Dean Haynes of the Clyde
chapter. Future Farmers of Am
erica, won first place in a county
wide speaking contest March 27 at
the Waynesvllle Township High
School. The winning speech was en
titled, "Forest: Why Plant Trees?"
Young Haynes will speak again
in the district contest to be held in
Asheville on May 12.

president of the Alpha Theta chap
ter of Beta Sigma Phi at a meeting
last week at the home of Mrs. A.
P. Evans on Balsam Drive.

be installed at the Founder's Day
banquet to be held April 30.
