Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Morrow, Jr., and children, Pamela and Stephen, of Pasadena, Tex., who are visiting relatives here, were guests In the community Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Roberson spent Sunday with their daughter. Mrs. Albert Rholes and family at Eto wah, and attended the birthday celebration for their granddaugh ter, Kathy Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Don Roberson and Mr. and Mrs. Jennings Roberson and son, Stevie. Among those attending the dis trict meeting of home demonstra tion clubs at Fletcher Wednesda> were: Mrs. George Frady, Mrs Jarrrett Williamson. Mrs. George Wright, Mrs. T. G. - Murray and Mrs. W. M. Williamson. Mr. and Mrs. George Gaddis of Atlanta have been visiting his sis ter, Mrs. Sam Jimison and family this week. Mr. and Mrs. Ben F. PARHAM Home Service Representative Carolina Power A Lifht Co. FESTIVE WAYS WITH MEAT I Entertaining should be as much fun for the hostess as it is for the guests. Of course, giving parties "at ease" depends on many things, but most of all it means using menus and preparing foods you can count on to be successful. Decide on a menu and do all possible work be 'orehand. One of the things which keeps menus' Interesting is to serve a va riety of meats; and dressing up meats with golden pineapple is sure ifi give a lift to your menus. Meat oaf is a year-round favorite and provides the most endless variety >f flavor combinations. Special seasonings, toppings and different meat combinations will serve to make a new creation of every meat loaf. Stuffed Ham Loaf 34 lb. ground ham Vt lb. ground beef 1/3 cup dry bread crumbs V4 cup milk 1 egg Vt tsp. salt 2 tbsps. brown sugar Dash allspice, cinnamon 1V4 cup drained pineapple tid bits 1 cup mashed sweet potatoes Mix ham, beef, crumbs, milk, egg and salt. Spread on waxed paper in oblong pan about 6 x 10 inches. Stir brown sugar, spices and 34 cup of the pineapple into sweet po tatoes. Spread over meat and roll carefully like a jelly roll. Lift by waxed paper into shallow pan. Bake in moderate oven 350" F. for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Decorate loaf with remaining 34 cup pineapple. Sprin kle fruit lightly with brown sugar ant) run under broiler a few min utes to glaze. (Makes 5 to 6 serv ings.) Ham Pineapple Skillet 34 lb. ground ham 34 lb. ground beef 34 tsp. salt 1 egg 2 tbsps. fine bread crumbs Oil or shortening 4 slices canned pineapple 4 sweet potatoes Cinnamon "34 cup brown sugar, packed 34 cup syrup from pineapple Combine ham, beef, salt, egg and crumbs. Mix and form into four patties. Brown in a little hot fat in skillet. Place pineapple slice on each ham patty. Pare and halve sweet potatoes, arrange between patties. Sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar. Pour pineapple syrpp over all. Covdr and cook over low heat for 25 minutes. Uncover and spoon pan liquid over fruit and potatoes last few minutes to give a beautiful glaze. (Makes 4 generous servings.) _ _ r?: I Maggie Residents Home From Trips Mrs. Rufus Buff and daughter Margarie visited Mrs Buff's son in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mehaffey, in Elmer, N. J. last week. Mr. and Mrs. Mehaffey announced the birth of a son, Luther Allen, on March 7. / Mrs. Eldridge Caldwell and daughter, Mrs. Tom Grasty, visited friends and relatives in Newport, Tenn., last week. Mrs. Caldwell's sister, Mrs. Lewis Clevenger, oc cupied her home for a week's visit. Mr. and Mrs. George Rsthbone and daughter of Asheville visited Mrs. Rathbone's mother Mrs. Alice Gentry. We are sorry to have lost Mr. "and Mcs. Jimmy McGaha from our community. They have moved to Salem, N. J. to make their home. Miss Joyce Hannah, student at Woman's College, Greensboro, spent the Easter holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Han nah. Mrs. C. L. Bradley has returned home after a visit last week with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Russell, and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Sheffield and Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Carpenter of Gulf port, Miss. Mrs. Barney Woody returned home from the Haywood County Hospital where she underwent an operation last week.
