Francis Cove CDP To Seek Extension Of Water Lines ? By MRS. RHODA RICKMAN Community Reporter The Francis Cove CDP met at the church last week with chair man Bob Francis in charge. Wiley Franklin gave the devotional. Plans were discussed concern ing an effort by Francis Cove resi dents to get town water lines ex tended into the cove. Hugh Rat cliffe of Ratcliffe Cove explained to our group how his community went about getting town lines ex tended into Ratcliffe Cove. Mr. Francis also explained how prizes will be awarded this year In the Haywood County CDP con test. Roger West, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter West, has returned home after undergoing surgery at Hay wood County Hospital. Miss Marlon Boggs has return ed home after an extended visit with relatives in Savannah, Ga., and Jacksonville, Fla. She also toured the Florida Keys dnrlng her visit. Roger Davis is a patient in the VA hospital at Durham. James Frady visited his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. El mer Frady, in Aiken, S. C., over the weekend. Fanning Goodson is a patient at Haywood County Hospital. Mrs. Charles Gates and daugh ter, Sheila, are visiting Mrs. Gates' parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Shuler, in Gastonia this week. Capt. Richard Boone and Capt. Walter Stark of Scott Air Force Base. 111., visited Capt. Boone's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Boone and other relatives Sunday. We are happy to hear that the debt on our church has been paid off, and that seven new members have been added recently to the church roll. Mrs. W. K. Boone visited her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cope, in Red Springs last week. During her stay they visited the Orton Plantation near Wilmington an<f other azalea gar dens. Miss Ruth Boone has returned to High Point College, where she is a freshman, after spending sev eral days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Boone. The community extends a wel come to Cecil Brown, assistant county agent, and Mrs. Brown, who have moved into ohe of the houses on the Francis farm. L. Doyle Miller has re signed the (pasto^ate of the Crab tree Baptist Church to accept a church in Tranklln. The Rev. Elmer Greene of Lake Junaluska, the Baptist Associational Mission ary, is supplying until a new pastor Is called. A special board meeting was held Sunday night at the Crabtree Methodist Church to discuss plans for tho dedication service which will be held Sunday. April 29. The Rev. and Mrs. C. O. Newell of Newland. who were on the Charge when the church was built, will be guests and Mrs. Newell will Qf llver the sermon.
