Mad Hatter Breakfast Set For April 27 The annual Mad Hatters Breakfast sponsored by the Rich land Garden Club will be held Friday, April 27, at the Waynes ville Country Club. Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m., followed by a benefit card patty to Include bridge, canasta and other games. Four prizes will be awarded to the "maddest" hats. CM wn. * * * Canton Women Hear Randolph Donald W. Randolph, training ' supervisor of The Champion Paper and Fibre Company, was the guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Canton Woman's Club Tuesday afternoon in the Assembly Room of the Canton Library. Mr. Randolph's subject was "A Challpncp of the Future." He dis cussed various phases of education, with emphasis upon the Industrial field. The speaker was introduced by. Mrs. Logan White, chairman of the education department of the club. During the business session the group voted to contribute the book "After High School. What?" to the High School Christian Youth Organization. The announcement was made that china and linen have been purchased by the club and donated to the Canton Library for use In the newly decorated' Assembly Room. Mrs. Glenn Howell, recently eleoted vice president, was elected to .serve as a delegate to the state Woman's Club Convention in Dur ham. April 24-28. Guests at the meeting were Mrs. Koolman and Miss Nellie Secrest. The tea table was centered with an arrangement of Aewering shrubs and Mrs, F. W. Vetoe presided at' the punch bowl. Burnette of Char lotte, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Burnette of Route 3, Can ton, became the bride of Pvt. Leonard M. -Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Wright of Charlotte In a ceremony at the home of the bride's parents on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Thomas Erwin, former pastor of the bride. The hdme was decorated with bridal wreath and greenery inter spersed with candles. The bride wore a ballerina length, Jacketed dress of white nylon with a lace bodice. Her only ornament was a strand of pearls, the gift of the groom. She wore a white hat and a small veil, and carried a white Bible topped hy a white orchid. Maid of honor was Miss Laura Lou Burnette, the bride's sister, wearin ga ballerina-length dress of pink nylon. Willis Morris of Charlotte serv ed as best man. ? Immediately following tbe cere mony a small reception was held In the home. Assisting were Miss Carolyn Wright, sister of the groom, and Miss Laura Burnette. Two delegates were named to at tend the Western North Carolina Craft Cami> on May 29-31 at Camp Schaub. Grady Barringer per formed the ceremony. Traditional wedding music was played by Mrs. Barringer and a solo, "The Lord's Prayer," sung by David B. Stone. The church was decorated with baskets of white gladioli and ferns. The couple entered together, the bride wearing a full-skirted white gown of organdy over net and taf feta with three - quarter - length sleeves and a white satin cummer bund. Her shoulder-length veil of jrganza was attached to a half-hat to form a headpiece. She carried a white Bible with a white orchid and ribbon streamers. Her only attendant, Miss Arby Jo Jones, wore i a pink print prin cess-style organdy with matching jacket. She carried a spray of mix ed spring flowers. Mr. Stewart, Sr., served as his son's best man. Ushers were Robert L. Stewart, brdther of the groom, and Marty Osborne of Brevard. The bride's mother wore a navy blue suit with bhie accessories and a corsage of pink rosebuds. The groom's mother wore navy also, with navy accessories and a corsage of white rosebuds. For travel the bride donned a pink linen princess dress with fit ted navy duster, completed by pink accessories and the orchid from her Bible. . After a wedding trip to Florida Mr. and Mrs. Stewart will reside at 119Vi College Heights, Brevard. Mrs. Stewart is a graduate of Waynesville Township High Schdbl and was formerly employed by Kilpatrick and Felmet, Mr. Stewart is employed at Ecusta. ' ? ? ? Bridge Tourney Planned April 20 By Canton Club The Canton Y's Mennettes Club will sponsor its annual Haywood County bridge tournament at the Canton YMCA at 7:3b p.m. April 20. Terrell has return ed (rom Munich, Germany, where she has spent the past 13 months with her husband, Sp/3 John R. Terrell. He will receive his Army discharge May 13. During her stay, Mrs. Terrell visited Holland, Belgium and Swit zerland. Mrs. Terrell will reside with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Taylor, during the summer while her husband resumes his studies at State College. Mr. and Mrs. Gosta Wollin of New York City entertained Mrs. Terrell on her arrival there. ? * ? James Branson, and Mrs. Eu gene Holtzclaw as co-hostesses. The president, Mrs. Mark Reno, was in charge of the meeting. The devotional was given by Mrs. Frank Campbell. Mrs. Reno announced that the dub had 10 delegates attending the District 111 Meeting in Fletch er. She welcomed Mrs. James Freel and Mrs. Sidney Trousdale as guests. A report was given that two workshops on caning, one copper, one pine cone, two draperies had been held during the month. Mrs. E. E. Conley announced that she will hold workshops on chaselng aluminum. Mrs. Hurley announced a caning workship to be held this Friday night at her home. A report on health wis given by Mrs. Lewis Duke, who also an nounced a very successful Pre school Clinic at Pennsylvania Avenue School. Home HCautlfication reports were given by Mrs. E. E.
