Dance Recital Is
Set For Friday
The Fletcher School of Dance
will present Waynesvllle students
in ? song and dance revue Friday,
May ?, at 8 p.m. in the Central
Elementary School. No admission
will be charged.
The students, ranging in age
from four to the teens, will pre
sent ballet, tap, acrobatic, and ball
room numbers.
Exhibitions of the tango and
modern swing dance will be given
by a group of teen-agers and spe
cial numbers will be presented by
students from Canton and Ashe

corned the guests. Each club mem
ber introduced herself.
Mrs. Lloyd Jones conducted the
devotions.
Announcement was made that
the Beaverdam Club will meet on
June 19 instead of the regular
date to give the members an op
portunity to attend Farm and
Home Week.
The club voted to make a $55
contribution to the Cancer Cru
sade which is being sponsored by
the Happy Homemakers of Canton.

Cpl. Guy Poteat, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Quince Poteat of Chestnut
Park Drive, has been discharged
from the Army and is now at home
with his parents.
Prior to entering the service he
served three years in the National
Guard. After basic training at
Camp Gordon, Ga? he was sta
tioned at Ft. Hood, Tex. He was
a member of the 1950 class of
Waynesville High School.

Has Pilgrimage
In Smokies
Members of the Skyland Garden
Club made a will) flower pilgrim
age in the Great Smoky Mountains
National Park last Thursday.
The group drove to Newfound
Gap and Clingman's Dome, and
stopped for a picnic lunch and
hike in The Chimneys' area in
Tennessee. They'visited the park
ranger's headquarters in Gatlin
burg and tTie Green Briar Cove
Ranger Station, taking a hike from
the latter.
Mrs. Joe Liner led the pilgrim
age and was hostess at lunch. A
guest was Mrs. Boyd Evans.
Mrs. Frank Worthington is presi
dent of the club.
