Our career-lady rriends are always asking us to suggest dishes that are speedy to prepare. ' For lunch recently we served an easy new main dish?Creamy Chicken Hash. It could be used for supper. Diced cooked chicken and frozen potato pattie.s are' the main ingredients. Over them goes a sauce made with the compara tively new product. Instant cream ?so convenient because it can be kept on a pantry shelf. The dish can be baked to a bubbling brown while you set the table and make a salad. Hot crusty garlic bread is also a good accompaniment to the chicken casserole. Once you try handy instant cream in this sauce, you'll prob ably want to use it in sauces for other dishes because it adds rich ness. During the warm weath er, you can use Instant cream in homemade Icecream sodus jiml in chilled soups to good effect. Want your biscuits and pastry to have a beautiful golden glaze? Mix a tablespoon of the instant cream with a tablespoon of hot water; brush the mixture on the biscuits or pastry before baking. If there are tea-drinkers in your household we can strongly recom mend Instant cream for use in a I good hot strong cup of that com forting beverage. The quick-frozen potato patties called for ir. our Creamy Chicken Hash recipe come fou? to a 12 ounce package. They are made of shredded raw potatoes seasoned with salt and onion, and are rec tangular in shape. They should not be thawed before using in the chicken hash casserole. CREAMY CHICKEN HASH Ingredients: V4 cup instant cream. 4 tablespoons flour, lilr cups seasoned chicken broth (cold or warm), 1 package (12 ounces) quick-frozen potato patties. 2 cups diced cooked chicken (bite size pieces), grated Parmesan or Romano cheese, paprika. Method: Stir instant cream and flour together thoroughly in a saucepan. Gradually stir in the chicken broth with a whisk or a fork so mixture is smooth. Cook and stir constantly over moderate heat until boiling and thickened. Place frozen potato patties in bot tom of shallow casserole; a deep heat-resistant glass pie plate (0V$ by 1V4 inches) is perfect to use. Arrange chicken over patties. Pour sauce over chicken. Sprinkle gen erously with grated cheese; sprin kle with paprika. Bake in moderate (373 degrees) oven until top is browned and sauce is bubbly ? about 25 minutes. Poke a fork un der chicken and sauce and try pota toes to make sure they are cooked. Makes 4 servings. Two Waynesville Men Now Serving In Korea 24th DIV.. KOREA ? Two sol dier* from Waynesville, Privates Jack S. Finger and William H. Grahl. recently arrived In Korea and are now members of the 24th Infrantry Division. The 24th is one of two American divisions stationed in Korea. It was the first U. S. unit to light in the Korean conflict. Finger, 21, son of the Rev. and Mr*. John C. Finger, Route 2, was graduated from Waynesvtlle High School In 1953 and attended West ern Carolina College. Grahl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Genoa Grahl, 908 East St.. is a 1994 grad uate of Wayneavllle High School. The 19-year-old soldier attended the University of North Carolina.
