Garden Club ' Council Holds AnnualLuncheon Mrs Arthur Pearson of Fletcher, director of District One of the Gar den Club of North Carolina, was the speafter,at the annual lunch eon of the Waynesvtlle Council of Garden Clubs Thursday at the Waynesville Country Club. Mrs. Pearson, who was Intro duced by Mrs. A. R. Riegg, Coun cil president, spoke on the ins-1 portance of "Little Things". Members of the five garden clubs of the Waynesville area, which make up the Council, at tended the affair. The tables were decorated with May Poles formed with candles and ribbon streamers at tbe end of which were miniature corsages. Each place was also marked with a corsage. Nancy Bischoff of Hazelwood has been awarded the Florence Nightingale Plaque, given by the Alumnae Association for leader ship, scholarship and nursing skill, at Duke University Nursing School Presentation of the award was made at an alumnae banquet last Wednesday night. Miss Bischoff, who will receive the diploma in nursing in June, is a member of the school's honor arary society. Santa Filomena. County Agents Leave Tuesday For Wilmington All of Haywood County's fann and home demonstration agents will leave Waynesville Tuesday to attend an extension training pro gram for agents of the Western and Southeastern districts at Wil mington. N. C. State College specialists will speak on the latest research development, and also will discuss carrying out of the agricultural extension program 'in North Caro lina.
