MOKE ABOUT Senator Ervin (Continued (Mm Page 1) status and requirements of air pow er. This, to a certain degree, was one purpose of our special in quiry. We have shown the degree which our air progress has lagged, and General LeMay's testimony has shown that he feels strongly that the Russians are overtaking Uncle Sam in a hurry in air power. As I view it, the people should know the facts about the nation's air power with the exception of that inform ation which must of necessity be kept classified in order not to assist a potential enemy. There has been more confusion than ought to be over what has been happening to our air defense, and I feel that the committee is rendering a useful service in probing to find out what the facta are. COLLEAGUE It wis a pleasure for me to ac company my colleague, Senator Joseph O'Mahoney of Wyoming, to North Carolina last week-end. He spoke to a meeting of the North Carolina Automobile Dealers Asso ciation in Pinehurst. We had a good visit ,and I regret that it was neces sary for both of us to hurry back to vote on a bill. I would have en joyed showing him more of our famous North Carolina hospitality. RIVERS & HARBORS The other week I wrote about the Rivers & Harbors Congress soon to meet in Washington. The meeting was held and many of our State's leaders attended the affair here. Legislation of this nature is vital to our State, and unity of ac tion is an effective way to proceed on projects of this nature. Dr. Hardy's Brother Dies In Tennessee Clyde B.
