Thompabn, 87, a re tired farmer of Clycfe, died Mon day about 4 p.m. in a Waynesville hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Wed nesday at 2 p.m. in the Clyde Church of God. The Rev. John Bowen. the Rev. Don Payne and the Rev. Truett Pressley officiated and burial was in Crawford Mem orial Park. Grandsons were palibearers. Granddaughters were flower bear ers. Thompson was a native of Jack son County and had resided In Haywood County for the past 67 years. Surviving are seven sons, Fred of Lake Junaiuska, Claude, J. E? Frank and L. J. of Clyde, and Carl and Homer of Canton: three daugh ters. Mrs. Crawford Sanford, Mrs. Jerry Snyder and4 Mrs. Robert Alexander of Clyde; two brothers. Plemmons Dies In Canion At Age Qf 88 Merrijnon F Plemmons, 88, of Canton died in a Clyde norslng home Tuesday morning following a long fflnea*. Plemmona was a native of Mad ison Counfy. a son of the late Levi and Katherine Bright Plem mons. , Ha was iMrried to Miss Lula Barrett in l$k| and lived in Little Sandy Mush section of Madison County for a number of years. He was a deacon of Mt. Pleas ant Baptist Church and was a former Cross Rock postmaster. La tar, he moved to the Leices ter section of Buncombe County where he oWhed and operated a grocery stare for a number of years. He had lived In Canton for the post eight years. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Canton. The Rev. Ben Lee Ray and the Rev. Ivan Roberts officiated. Burial was in Bon-A-Venture Cemetery. Grandsons were pallbearers: Bill and Clarence Plemmons, Riley and Craig Jones, Carlson Hipps and A. J Reno Jr. Granddaughters were flower bearers.
