Garden Club At Canton Plans Rose Show The Friendly Gartfen Club of Canton, will sponsor a Rose Show Friday. Beulah Caldwell Paxton Is Bride Of Hugh Elder The wedding of Mrs. Beulah Caldwell Paxton of Wayne*ville and Hugh W. Elder of Asbeville was solemnized Sunday afternoon, June 10. at 4 o'clock. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Caldwell of Way nesville and the bridegroom Is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Oscar Elder of Anniston, Ala. The ceremony was held in the garden at the home of the bride's parents with the Rev. T. A. Groce of Asheville, former pastor of the bride, officiating. A program of music was pre sented by Miss Linda Boone, pian ist, and Charles lsley, soloist. The vows were spoken before an improvised altar formed with bas kets of white gladioli, fern and gypsophelia against a background of fern. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of blush pink satin designed with empire bodice trimmed with lace and iri descent sequins. The skirt was fash ioned with inserted panels of ChantiUy lace and her matching veil was attached -to a Juliet cap of blush pink lace and illusion trimmed with seed pearls. She car ried a pearl encrusted white satin Bible, a gift of the bridegroom, topped with a white orchid. Miss Teresa Fernandez of Way nesville was maid of honor. She wore a Balenciaga Original of periwinkle blue net over taffeta trimmed with pink lavender bows and her hat was an original model from Havana in a color matching the bows. She carried a bouquet of garden flowers. Cecil Snead of Asheville served as best man. A reception was held at The Towne House in Waynesville im mediately following the ceremony. The bride's table was covered with a lace cloth over pink and was centered with an arrangement of asters and snapdragon in a silver and crystal epergne, flanked with pink and white candles. Assisting were Mrs. Charles la ley, Mrs. T, M. Flncher, and Mrs. Walter Craven. Mrs. Caldwell, mother of the bride, wore a dress of pale blue linen and lace and her corsage was of pink roses. Mrs. James A. Glass, Sr. of Anniston. ssiter of the bride groom, wore aqua and white linen with a corsage of gardenias. For a wedding trip to Florida the bride wore a dress of mint green polished cotton with white accessories and the orchid from her Bible. Upon their return the couple will be at home at 200 Haywood Street, Waynesville. Mrs. Elder is employed at Well eo Shoe Corporation. Hazelwood and Mr. Elder Is employed by Bos tonian Shoe Co and M. V. Moore and Company at Asheville. Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. James A. MISS MARY ANN FISHER has been chosen as one of the North Carolina girls to represent the State at the Lions International Convention in Miami this month.
