MILLARD FERGUSON Community Reporter The Bible- school now being taught the Crabtree Baptist Church will close on Friday with a pro gram at 8 p.m. Mrs. Noble Hoglen will meet with her group of G. A. girls Sat urday at 2 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Zimmery Hoglen. Miss Hilda Hoglen will be hostess. Chief Petty Officer James Jones has arrived for a short leave with Mrs. Jones and their children. En route from Bremerhaven, Ger many, he ran into a severe snow storm and icebergs near St. Johns. Newfoundland. He arrived in Brooklyn. N. Y., last Saturday and will report back there next Satur day to said for Casablanca, N. Africa. Out-of-town guests here for the Calhoun-Wells wedding last week were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Aiken ot Easley, S. C.; Mrs. OlUe Wells. Miss Pearl Wells and Paul Mc Elrath ot Leicester; and Mr. and Mrs. Nay Kinsland of Asheville. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Chambers have learned that their son. Pvt. Don Chambers, arrived June 6 at Bremerhaven, Germany. He will be stationed at Friedberg, Ger many. Those here for the golden wed ding celebration of Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Ferguson Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lee Ferguson and their daughter Esther Lee of De troit, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Steph Williams. Mrs. Lee Williams and three sons of Woodslown, N. J.; Mrs. Richard Griffin of Silver Spring, Md.; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Clark of Newport News. Va.; Mrs. George Few of Greer, S. C.; Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Lynn and daugh ters of Travelers Rest, S. C. Mrs. Ferguson, the former Miss Mary Williams, was married to Mr. Ferguson March 6, 1906, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Williams. The families had a picnic lunch on the lawn at the noon hour. Open house was held from 2 to 5 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson have seven children, 16 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Miss Peggie Porter, here with me *-ti louring group trom Colo rado, is the guest this week of Miss Beverly Chambers at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Chambers. Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Nesbitt en tertained Monday evening with a picnic supper at their home com plimentary to Mr. and Mrs. James Safford of Charleston, S. C., and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Safford of Petersburg, Va., who are here visit ing their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Safford. Thirty-five guests Were present. Mrs. Mary Haney and Mrs. Jack Noland were hostesses Saturday night at a shower for Mrs. O'Neal Justice at the home of Mrs. Charles Noland. Thirty guests were pres ent. Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Nesbitt spent I Sunday with Mr. Nesbitt's parents. Mi. and Mrs. J. B. Nesbitt of Fair view. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Cutshaw and their son Dean and Miss Mary Lou McCracken left Saturday (pr a week's visit with Mr. and Mrs. Herman Holder in Hopewell, Va. Mrs. John Hendricks, who has bee? visiting her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Wiley McClure,- has returned to her home in Indiana. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jackson of Asheville were guests of Mrs. Mon roe Noland during the weekend. Mrs. Jesse Lowe returned last week from Flint, Mich., where she visited her son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Coman Beasley. She was accompanied home by her granddaughter, Sandra Sauceman. ' Jean Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Jones of Columbus, N. J., arrived Monday to spend the summer with her grandmother, Mrs. Eva Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Head and son James of Lake Stephen, Wash., are here for stx weeks with Mrs. Head's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Weav er Haney. "Uncle" Bob Arringlon, who has been visiting his children, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Arrington, Mr. and Mrs. Ratio Arrington and Mrs. Fannie Woody of Marion, has re turned home and is with his daugh ter, Mrs. Jesse Lowe.
