has been a patient at the Naval
Hospital in Newport. K. I. He re
ceived his basic training at Great
Lakes, 111., earlier this year.

deliver an address at Lake Juna
luska Saturday at H a.m. on home
missions
Following the address the mis
sionary conference, currently in
session at the Lake, will go to the
Iron DuiT community for dinner at
the community center and to get
first-hand information on the rural
development of Haywood County.
The purpose of the trip is to ob
serve rural churches who partici
pate in the missions program.
There will be a program follow
ing the luncheon which will be
served at the Iron Duff Commun
ity Center.

New Fire Truck
The Center Pigeon Fire Depart
ment, organized during the past
year as a rural community group
to promote fire protection, has se
cured its first fire truck.
The finance committee is off to a |
good start in securing l'unds to pay i
lor the truck and necessary equip-1
ment, but about 54.000 more is
needed. Anyone wishing to make j
a donation is a-sked to contact the
committee.

Marrel, who took part in the Eagle
Dance in the Cherokee drama in
1952. He has continued in the en
tertainment world, having starred
in such productions as "Okla
homa." in Cleveland. Ohio, and is
now on Broadway. He was born
and reared in Asheville.
Mr. and Mrs. Davis Rathbone
Mrs. Oliver Finger and Mrs.
Charlie Fie and her daughter Pa
tricia Anne attended the Medford
Ccoper reunion Sunday at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Mod
ford in Clyde. Mrs. Finger, Mrs.
Fie and Mrs. Rathbone were there
to represent the descendants of the
later Mrs. Mary Fulbright Knight
of Maggie.
The G. A.'s of the Olivet Baptist
Church met at the church Friday
night to repair the hymn books.
Mrs. Vesta McGaha was in charge
of the meeting.
Around 200 boys and girls have
been enjoying their stay at Camp
Dell wood and Camp Hemlock.
Mr. and Mrs. Grover Caldwell
are planning to make the farm
tour, leaving Waynesville Thursday
and returning the following Friday
week.

have been open for three weeks.

their son Randy have moved to
Winston-Salem. Mr. Evans has
been attending a barber school
there.

were her sister, Mrs. Lewis Clev

niece, Mrs. George Badzoan and
Mr. Badzoan of Cleveland, Ohio.
