Medford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Medford, also of RFD 1, Canton. Saturday, July 14. at 8 p.m. in the home of her parents. The Rev John Smith of the Dutch Cove Baptist Church per formed the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Kenneth Brookshire, pianist, j presented a program of traditional wedding music Given in marriage by her father.' the bride Wore a white nytcn, tail lerina length, dress. Designed with a fitted bodice and full skirt. Her veil of illusion fell from a small lace cap, and she carried a white Bible topped with gardenias and showered with streamers. Mrs. Woody Smathers of Canton was the bride's only attendant. She wore a pink dress with white ac cessories and a corsage of white carnations. Bruce Medford of Raleigh and Canton, cousin of the bridegroom, was best man. For a wedding trip the bride wore a navy blue suit with white accessories and the corsage from her Bible Mrs. Medford is a graduate of Canton High School, and is cm ployed at Dayton Rubber Company In Haielwood. Junaluska Club Plans Workshop The Junaluska Home Demonstra tion Club met Friday afternoon in the home of Mrs. Boyd Medford. with Mrs. Paul Sutton as co hostess. Mrs W. H Burgin presid- j ed Mrs. Andy Moody gave the do-!, votional. During the business session, plans were made for the August meeting. A workshop will be held j on hammered copper planters and copper enameling in the home of Mrs. W. H. Burgin. Mrs. Zack Mas- j sey will be co-hostess for a picnic lunch. The hostesses served punch and cookies from an attractive informal tea table. ? ? * The Baermanns Will Tour Europe Mr and Mrs. Walter Baermann are leaving tomorrow on a month's tour of Europe which Will combine business and pleasure. It will also be the first visit Mr. Baermann I has had with members of his fam ily in 27 years. , They will travel by plane, leaving Idlewild Airport, New York on Wednesday via Scandinavian Air lines for Scotland. They will-spend several days in England as guests of Mr. Baermann's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. William Baermann, and will fly from Lon don to Copenhagen, Denmark ? where Mr. Baermann will transact j business and visit the National In-! stiute of Building Research. ' Happy Homemakers Meet In Canton A meeting of the Happy Home makers of Canton was held Thurs day morning in the home of Mrs. Vincent Glance with Mrs. Floyd i Devlin and Mrs. Bruce Nanney as associate hostesses. Mrs. Harold Smathers presided and Mrs. H. W. St'les conducted the devotions. Leaders' reports were given on gardens by Mrs. J. B. Anderson and home beautiflcation by Mrs. C. W. Gidney. Mrs. Burgin Baity gave a paper on Columbia, the country being studied by the club. The group voted to make a tour to Biltmore House on the regular meeting day in August. Swift left yesterday for Camp LeJeune where they are visiting their son and daughter-in-law, Lt. and Mrs. James N. Swift, and their new grandson. James Swift. Jr. Thursday Club' Is Organized By Teen-Agers A teen-ager club sponsored by St. John's Community Center was officially organized last Thursday evening with about 16 present and will meet again this Thursday at 7.30 p.m. Under the name of the "Thurs day Club" the group elected offi cers as follows: president, Tom Chaffee; vice president, Bette Lin er; secretary, Gail Pizzuto; treas urer. Catherine Cross._ They voted to hold a bridge ses sion each Thursday and to schedule varied activities including tennis, pingpong and picnicking every Tuesday. The club is one of the activities at the recently organized St. John's Community Center, which will be operated by the Parents Club and the Book Club for the benefit of equipment for the new school . building. Davis Is Married In Florida Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Gloria Yvonne Gaudreau. daughter of Mrs. Conine Gaudreau of Miami, Fla., to Sgt. Stewart Phillip Davis, son of Mrs. Delphia Davis of Waynesville and the late Willard Davis. The ceremony took place July 5 in the Bethany Covenant Church, Miami, with the Rev Mr. Holman officiating.
