Power Companies
Plan Mutual Aid
? ?>* '? }
Carolina Power & Light Com
pany and four neighboring power
companies have set up a voluntary
plan to help one another restore
service in the event of a hurri
cane or other disaster.
At a meeting in Raleigh last
week the five companies agreed to
send available company line crews
and contracted line crews when
help is needed in an emergency,
according to J. S. Bourne, CP&L
superintendent of lines.
The inter-company plan supple
ments CP&L's own emergency
plan to utilize its employees to the
fullest extent in the wake of an
emergency.

"H
; Today you can have
what other cars
may not have for years
J 1st between us?don't you gut a kick
out of keeping a step ahead of the
other fellow?especially when it conies
to cars?
So wouldn't you find it fun to boss the
newest thing in motordom?a car with
the greatest advance in transmissions
since the gearshift left the floor?
And wouldn't you like to have all this
at a price that is right?and when the
weather is right?and right when your
car is at its top worth?
Well, sir. we've got that kind of situa
tion for you?now.
Because this very day you can step
into a 1956 Buick with Variable Pitch
Dynaflow*?a transmission so modern
that you may not find its like in other
cars for years to come.
You can have the thrill of split-second
action from the merest nudge of die
pedal ? and with the good-news gas
savings this economy range brings.
Von can have the safety-surge of power
that comes from pushing down on the
pedal and switching the pitch.
All with the walloping might of Buiek's
322-cubic-inch V8 engine. All with the
new luxury of a ride that's built on
four brawny coil springs for buoyant
i
levelness. A ride with new steering ease
and sweeter handling.
Best of all, you can make the buy of a
lifetime. For today's low prices have
helped move Buick into America's best
selling 3 more firmly than ever.
That means we can come to terms on the
trade-in value of your ear in a way that's
bound to tickle you pink.
W hy not stop in and take us up on that
