State Per Capita Income Increased 5 Per Cent In'55 Per capita income in North Caro lina in 1955 increased $63 or 5 per I cent over that of 1954. the Depart ment of Conservation and Develop ment wan advised today by the De partment of Commerce in Washing ton. North Crolina's per capita in come gain in 1955 over 1954 was the same per cent as the national average. Per capita income in this state last year wa.s $1,236 compared with $1 173 in 1954. Total personal income in this state in 1955 amounted to $5,371, 000,000 as compared with $4,939. 000.000 in 1954. or a gain of 8 per cent. The nation as a whola gained 7 per cent, i In 1965 North Carolina ranked 14th in the nation in personal in come received from manufacturing. This income amounted to $1,342, 000.000, or a gain of 13 per cent over that of 1954 The average gain for the nation as a whole was 9 per cent.
