Catamounts, Mountaineers Meet Saturday At Asheville With the sweet taste of victory, the Western Carolina Catamounts are busily preparing for their first ( conference encounter of the 1956 season, as they meet up with the ' highly touted Appalachian Moun taineers in the mythical Western North Carolina Championship, this Saturday night. Tte two teams will clash before an estimated 7,500 persons in Ashe ville's Memori.l Stadium, and many of the fans will be on hand to see the "rejuvenated" Cata mounts under their new head men tor. Robinson made his debut in the college coaching ranks last Sat urday night when the Western Catamounts dumped a fighting Car son-Newman eleven by the score of 19-13 Fans have been buzzing all week about the fine display put on last week by the Western gridders. And they have plenty to talk about! Each of the four starting backs for tha Catamounts averaged aver four yards per carry. Buddy Rec tor led the fleet-footed backs with an 6.71 average, while Tommy Lewis was right on his heels with 5.8 yards per carry. BRADLEY Community Reporter A large crowd attended the Homecoming Day held Sunday at the Peach Tree Methodist Church. Dinner was served on the ground at noon; and the all-girl choir from the Olivet Baptist Church sang in the afternoon. Mrs. Harry Bradley was hostess last week at her home on Moody Farm Road at a party for her daughter Jane, who celebrated her ninth birthday. Grace Church Sets SS Training Class Grace Episcopal Church will be host Monday to a meeting of the Department of Christian Education of the Diocese of Western North Carolina. Purpose of the session, which is one of four scheduled in the diocese during the week, is to train Sunday School teachers.
