Green of j Waynesville has been named "Wo- j man of the Year," by the Waynes-; ville Business and Professional ; Women's Club. Announcement of the honor was made at a dinner meeting of the ' club Tuesday night at The Lodge, at which Mrs. Green was a special guest. Mrs. J. T. Russell introduced the t "Woman of the year" and present ed her an orchid corsage. Mrs. GreCn is assistant dietitian of the Haywood County Hospital, a position she has held for eight years. She is the mother of nine children, eight of whom are living, j Bom in Waynesville in April, j 1892. Mrs. Green is the former Miss Olive Boone. She was gradu- : atcd from the Waynesville schools j and attended Meredith College in j Raleigft as a voice major. Mrs. Green's husband died 22 j years ago when her oldest child was 18. Her first job was operating the Ladye Fayre Beauty Shop, which she did with the assistance of a daughter She also served at one time as an assistant in the Waynesville Kindergarten and for over a year played the piano for the silent movies at the old Waynew'ood Theatre. She was formerly employed in Ruth Craig's Beauty Shop as receptionist. Mrs. Green has been a number of the First Baptist Church for 53 years and for 50 years has con tributed her time and talents to the music of the church. She has served as pianist, a member of the Mrs. Mease Is Hostess At Club Meeting The Rhododendron Garden Club ! met Tuesday morning in the home j of Mrs. Ralph Mease. A program on fall planting was J presented by Mrs. J. W Bennick and Mrs. W. O. Kearse. Mrs. Ben nick discussed "Annuals and Per ennials," and Mrs. Kearse spoke on "Mulching".
