(International Soundphoto) Clyde PTA Plans Carnival, Benefit Supper A mooting of the Clyde Parent-1 Teacher Association was held Thursday night in the school audi torium. Mr*. Jim Newman was in charge of the program which was on I he general t heme for the year, "Education?Our Investment in the Future." Special music was presented by the school band under the diree- j lion of Mis# Denton. During the business session, i with Mr*. Carl Gillis presiding, i the group decided to sponsor a ; Hallowe'en Carnival in the new j gymnasium on November 2 The 1'TA will also furnish a food j booth. A decision was also reached to sponsor a supper on November 16 for tiff benefit of the band. The devotional was conducted by the Rev V N. Allen. Band PW Club To Hear Program On Founding Of UN A program based on recognition of the eleventh anniversary of the founding of the United Nation* will be presented at the October meeting of the Waynesville Busi ness and Professional Women's Club Tuesday evening. President Eisenhower's procla mation will be read and some of the pust accomplishments of the UN reviewed, especially In the lields of Public Health and care of unfortunate children left in the wake of war and famine The Notional Federation of B A PW Clubs earlier endorsed the work of the UN The anniversary recognition will be under the International Rela lons Committee of which Mrs Hebekah Murray is chairman. ? ? ? N. Y. L. Club Staged Dinner Meet Friday The N.Y.L. Club, a social or ganization with a membership of residents and former residents of Haywood County, met Friday night at the SAW cafeteria for a dinner meeting. Following the dinner the group went to the George Vanderbilt Hotel where they spent a social hour reminiscing and writing cards to absent members in other states. Those attending Friday's meeting included Mrs. Mcl-am ttogers, Miss Lillian Hurgln and Miss Margaret Burgin. all of Ashevllle; Mrs. Fred Plott of Candler. Also Mrs. Charles Henderson, Mrs Walter Francis, Mrs. Leland Garnett. Mrs Grace Camp, Miss Frangie Noland, Miss Elizabeth Mc Crack.-n and Miss Louise Camp bell ? ? * St. John's Students Sponsoring A Dance The high school students at St. John's School are sponsoring a Halloween dancp Saturday, Oc tober 27. After a social hour in charge of Mm. R B Barker, Mr*. R H. Blackwell, Mrs. ft B. Foy and Miss Margaret Elder, a business meeting was held with Miss Pearl Harris presiding.' Mrs. Grover Davis, chairman of International Affairs presetted Mrs. Paul Robinson of Clyde who gave a paper on the Indians ol Guatemala, along with articles and pictures featured in her talk. Mis. Davis, who has a sister liv- i ing in Guatemala gave many in- T teresting facts concerning the sub- * ject which she had received first j hand from her sister.
