Miss Harris Heads District Women's Clubs Miks Pearl Harris of Waynesville v as named district director of the Federation of Women's Clubs at a district meeting held Tuesday in Franklin. She succeeds Mrs. Kelly Bennett of Bryson City, who presided at the meeting. Mrs. Ray Parshall, also of Way nesville. was elected district secre tary. Mrs. Aubrey Mauney of Kings Mountain, state president of Wom en's Clubs, was the featured speaker. Other state officials present were Mrs. Margaret Harper of Southport. 2nd vice president; Miss Marjoric Yokeley of Mount Airy, 3rd vice president; Mrs. Ramsej Buchanan of Sylva. state Home Department chairman, and mem bers of her committee. Mrs. D M Hall of Sylva and Mrs. Carl Killian. Members of the VTaynesville club attending were Miss Harris, presi dent. Mrs. Charles Hay, Mrs. W T Bridges, Mrs. 11. L. Ranchman, Mrs. K N Barber, Sr., Mrs. Par shall. and Miss Una Plott. The Waynesville Club was awarded a certificate of honor, based on the accomplishments of the various departments. ? * * Mrs. Killian Gives Luncheons At Home Mrs. J. W. Killian entertained at luncheons on Wednesday and Saturday of last week in her home on Boyd Avenue. On both occasions the rooms were decorated with arrangements of pink and yellow chrysanthe mums. WTHS Key Club Sponsors Ball A "Mountaineer Ball'' was held by the Key Club of the, Waynes ville High School Saturday night in the Masonic Temple Dancers came in costume and Joe Russell was awarded a prize as "The best looking mountain-< eer." Streamers of black, orange, and yellow crepe paper with autumn foliage and alternating colored lights were used in decorating the ball room. 1 Mr. and Mrs Frank Arnett serv ed as chaperons. The Key Club, which is under the sponsorship of the Kiwanis Club is made up of around thirty 1 boys of the IOth, lllh, and 12th grades of the high school.
