Army, stationed at Ft. Devens. Mass., spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Stovall. Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Stovall. She is a student nurse at Presbyterian Hospital. * * * Training Course Is Started For GS Leaders Girl Scout troop leaders. Com mittee members and lother adult workers met Friday at the Hut for the first session in a training course conducted by Mrs. Lillian Bryant of Asheville. Three additional sessions will be held on Tuesday November 13, Friday November 16; and Monday, November 19. Mrs. Hudson .said the dog stayed around the Holtectaw residence on Smathcrs St. for 10 days and now has been with her for two weeks. She described the animal as one DAR Chapter Has Program On American Creed Mrs. John Kirkpatrick, Jr. and Mrs. R. D. Coieman, Jr were host esses for the November meeting of the Dorcas Bell Love Chapter, Daughters of the American Revo lution, Friday afternoon in the home of Mrs. Kirkpatrick at Crab tree. Mrs. Robert Osborne presented the program on "The American Creed." She reviewed the history of the organization of the Ameri can form of government and told of current agencies working to weaken the government. She dis cussed the work of the DAR in upholding the American heritage and told the history of the Creed, which was written in 1916 by Wil liam Tyler Page, a descendant of John Tyler, a president of the U.S. The Creed was selected following a national contest. Mrs. Hugh I-each reviewed the DAR Magazine, reading the Thanksgiving message of the Pres ident General. Mrs. Ben Colkitt, regent, read a letter from veterans at Oteen expressing their appreciation for eifts sent hv the chant pr fnn thpir Halloween bingo party. She an nounced that Chrirstmas gifts for the Oteen patients will be brought to the December meeting. Following a report by Mrs. R. B. Barker, Red Cross chairman, the chapter voted to donate $5.00 to the Red Cross to be used for Thanksgiving flowers for veterans' hospitals. Mrs. W A. Hyatt, Mrs W. F. Swift, and Mrs. Robert Osborne were named as a committee to plan additional planting at the Memorial Plot at Green llill Cemetery. The secretary was instructed to write a letter of sympathy to the family of the late Mrs. Joseph Silversteen of Brevard, who was a prominent member of the DAR. During the social hour the host esses were assisted in serving by Mrs. Kirkpatrick's daughters, Hel en and Sara Kirkpatrick. (Sherrill's Photot. mi in i. * ine waiter Mills Celebrate Their 50th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mills, whose fiftieth wedding anniversary was Sunday, November 11, celebrated the occasion with an open house Saturday afternoon in their, home on Aliens Creek. Hosts for the affair were the chil dren of Mr and Mrs. Mills; Mrs. Grady Pruitt. Mrs. Robert Garrett, and Roy Mills, all of Waynesvillo. Route 1, and Mrs. Harry Mashburn of Waynesville. Mr, and Mrs Mills who have the same birthday, October 21. were married November 11, 1906 Mr. Mills, who is 75. was born in Jackson Counts and Mrs. Mills. Who is 72. is the former Miss Nora Scruggs. ;i native of Haywood County. They have lived on Aliens Creek a number of years. Mr Mills is a retired employe of the Una gusta Manufacturing Company. Both Mr. and Mrs. Mills have been devoted members of the Al iens Creek Baptist Church for 33 years.
