Grand Jury Cites Need Of Several School Repairs The Grand Jury- with Ed Potts, foreman, made the following re pwl to the court last Wednesday afternoon: To His Honor, Zeb V". Nettles. Judge. Presiding and holding the November Term, 1956, Superior Court of Haywood County, North Carolina We, the Grand Jury, herein sub mit our tindings in accordance with His Honor's instructions We have carefully considered all bills of indictment that have been pre sented to us and in each case have examined all necessary witnesses, and have returned a true bill in each case where, in our opinion, there was probable cause We hereby submit the following report: County Court House?The Court House seems to be in good condi tion as far as we can find in oui investigation Haywood County Jail?The Jail was found to be clean and very well kept?23 prisoners. Canton Jail?Clean and in good shape?no prisoners. Prison Camp?Tlx* Prison Camp is in excellent shape Everything is clean and the prisoners are well fed A new oil heater is being in stalled. There are tit) prisoners. Ilaywood County Schools ? Ml. i Sterling School ? 23 children en rolled?1 teacher. All necessary re- j pairs were made on this building and grounds about August 20, 1950. No reports of sn> other mods have come to our attention thus far We i have visited it once since the open ing date of school 'Aug 28. 1950'. Cataloocher School ? 0 children ?enrolled 1 teacher. The same re port on this school as foi Mt. Sterl ing as to repairs We feel thai this school s enroll ment is getting rather low to af ford <i teacher. We are unable at. this time to say what disposition the State will make for another school term East Waynesville ? Everything was found in good shape. Mr. ltog er.s says thai needs have been tak en care of, as soon as reported to the School Hoard. Building and equipment ill good shape. Pennsylvania' ? Everything in i good condition. Wayncsville High ? Boys' rest room in Junior High needs paint and piaster repaired. Central Elementary ? Boys" rest room needs paint Base boards need ; paint, windows need new panes in stalled Hazel wood?-Everything in good sliaix' exeepl water leaks In lunch roorh. Outside doors- need re pair. draft system on boiler needs skins' care of. Bethel?The heating system in he old building needs some re pairs. The sink in kitchen won't lold water, there are two leaks in he agriculture building. They need nore room for storing tools. Pigeon?New Building in prog ?ess.
