Double Wedding Is Held At First Baptist Church A double wedding was held in the First Baptist Church Friday evening, November 23, at 7:30 o'clock when Miss Catherine Loret ta Grast.v, daughter of Mrs. Lloyd Grasty of Waynesville and the late Mr. Grasty, became the bride of James Joseph Gaddis, and Miss Helen Marie Barrett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carson Barrett of Hazelwood, was married to James Stuart Grasty. Mr. Gaddis Ls the son of Mr. and MYs. James A. Gaddis of Waynesville and Mr. Grasty is the son of Mrs. Lloyd Grasty and the late Mr. Grasty. The Rev. T. E. RoJinett, pastor of the church, performed the cere mony and a program of music was presented by Mrs. Bob Wilson, or ganist. and Bobby Hill and Betty Rowland, vocalists. Miss Grasty was given in mar riage by her brother, Eugene F. Grasty. She wore a floor length gown of handclippcd Chantilly lace and nylon tulle over satin, styled with fitted bodice. Queen Ann col lar, and long sleeves. The bouffant skirt featured cascade ruffles of tulle and extended in a chapel rain. Her veil of silk illusion was I attached to a double crown of | delustered pearls and iridescent sequins and she carried a white orchid on a white Bible. Miss Barrett, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a [ floor-length gown of Bambazine silk and handclippcd rose point lace over taffeta, fashioned with long torso waist, long sleeves end ! ing in calla points, and a high neckline outlined with rosettes of i lace, pearls, and sequins. The ! bouffant skirt of silk ended in a chapel train. She wore a fingertip veil of silk illusion attached to* a halo of orange b.ossoms and pearls and she carried a white orchid on a white Bible. Miss Grastv was attended bv her sister-in-law. Mrs. Eugene F. Gras ty. as matron of honor and Miss June Gaddis, sister of the bride groom, and Miss Betty Jane Mor gan as bridesmaids. The matron of 1 honor wore a ballerina length dress of DuBarry rose taffeta and velveteen fashioned with scoop neck, cap sleeves, and velveteen sash. Her headdress was a bandeau of matching taffeta and loops of pearls. She carried a cascade bou quet of mixed flowers. The bridesmaids wore dresses of turquoise taffeta and velveteen Identical to that of the matron of honor and carried colonial bou quets. Roba Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Wilson of Waynes ville and cousin of the bride, was flower girl and Terry Lynn Grasty. nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. Brenda Gaddis. sister of ? he bridegroom, was junior brides maid. Honorary attendants wore Miss Hoglen and Miss Mary Reeves. James A. Gaddis served as best man for his son and ushers were Jimmie Harrie. Donald Jordon. and Buddy Noland. Miss Barrett was attended by Miss Dolores Hembree as maid of honor and her cousins. Miss Mary Louise Rowland and Miss Carolyn lyn Rowland of Newport, Tenn.. as bridesmaids. The maid of honor wore a bal-1 lerina length dress of DuBarry rose taffeta and velveteen with a match ing bandeau of velvet trimmed with pearis ana carried a cascade dou quet of mixed flowers. The brides maids wore identical costumes in turquoise and also carried cascade bouquets. Donna Massey, cousin of the j bride, was junior bridesmaid and Sharon Gowans, cousin of the I bride and daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Andy Gowans of Hot Springs, was flower girl Ricky Grasty, nephew of the bridegroom, was ring bearer. Honorary bridesmaids were Miss Carlita Lentz of Waterloo, Iowa, cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Ken neth Grasty, sister-in-law of the bridegroom. Kenneth Grasty served as be^t man for his brother and ushers were Bill Grasty, also a brothef of the bridegroom, Jim Barrett, brother Of the bride, and Paul Hiehtower. Following the ceremony a cake rutting was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Grasty for both couples and their attendants Assisting were Mrs. W W. Rowl and. Mrs. Joe Sparks, Mrs. Jack Rowland. Mrs. Andy Gowans. Mrs. Roy Swanger, Mrs. Carl Rathbone, Mrs. Roy RufT. and Mrs Hubert Hoglen. For a wedding trip Mrs. Gaddis wore a sheath dress of gray tweed with gray accessories and the or chid from her Bible. Upon their return Mr. and Mrs. Gaddis will make their home in Knoxville, Tenn, Mrs. Gaddis was graduated from Waynesville Township High School and has been employed by the Southern Life Insurance Company. Mr Oaridis. also a graduate of the Waynesville Ilieh School, is a stu dent at the University of Tennes see, Knoxville. Mrs. Grasty wore a blue velvet een sheath dress with the orchid corsage from her Bible for her wedding trip, Mrs. Grasty is a graduate of the Waynesville high school. Mr. Gras ty attended the Waynesville schools and is now employed at Dayton Rubber Co. The couple will make their home on Aliens Creek. Superintendents From 18 Counties Coming Here 28th About 25 school superintendents of the 18 counties in Western North Carolina will hold a 4-hour session here Wednesday. The meeting will be at Art Shepherd's, and the general business program will deal with the many school pi oblems.
