Funeral Service Is Held For Mrs. D. A. Howell Funeral services were held this afternoon in the chapel of Garrett Funeral Home for Mrs. 11. A. Howell, who died Monday morning after a long illness. The Rev. J. Clayton Lime offici ated and burial was in Green Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Whitener Pre vost, Charles Ray, Claude Holtz claw, Dick Moody. Joe Howell, Hugh Leach, Ben Rlaloek. and Ice land Caniett. A native and life-long resident of Haywood County. Mrs. Howell h was the former Mattie Moody,! daughter of the late A. A. Moody jj and Lorena McCracken Moody. She h was 82. Mr. and Mrs. Howell celebrated their sixty-sixth wedding annivers-' i ary in May of this year. Surviving, in addition to her hus- , band, are two daughters, Mrs. Nina II. Darek of Wayncsville and Mrs. i Klmer Osborne of Canton; two sons, Fred and Edwin Howell of; Pioui^nce, R. EFFIE MEHAFFEY Funeral services were held this I afternoon in the Allen's Creek Bantist Church for Mrs. Effie Farmer Mehaffey, 73, who died at her home Tuesday morning of a heart attack. The Rev. Otto Parham. the Rev. Thomas Erwin. and the Rev. C. L. Allen officiated and burial was in Green Hill Cemeterv. Pallbearers were Elbert and Mil lard Mills, Charles Frady. Rilly | Norman. Carl Brooks, and Lucius I Allen. Mi's. Mehaffey was the widow ;j of Robert Mehaffey. who died in i 1923. She was a native and life long resident of the county and was a member of the Allen's Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ed Crawford of Cullowhee, Mrs. Noland Reagan. Mrs. Homer Norman and Mrs. Roy Moody, all of Waynesville; three sons, Sam Mehaffey of Atlanta, and Robert and Jerry Mehaffey of Waynes ville; a sister. Mrs. Vera Wright of Greenville. S. C.. and 23 grand children. Arrangements were under the direction of Garrett Funeral Home. JESS C. CURTIS Jess C. Curtis, 65, died Wednes day in the Haywood County Hos pital after a long illness. He was a native of Haywood County. Funeral services will be held at 2 p m. Friday in the chapel of Garrett Funeral Home. The Rev. J M. Woodard and the Rev. C. L. Allen will officiate, and burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lee Grant Clark. Crawford Crcasnian. Lem Shenhard, James Kuykendalt, Billy Smith and Julius Hoyle. Jr. Nephews will be honorary pall bearers, and nieces will be flower bearers. Surviving are two daughters. Mrs. Robert Arrineton of Hazel-1 wood, and Mrs. Walter Lemlns of ! She was a native of Atlanta and had lived in this area for the past 47 years. Her husband was former general operations snpertntendent of The Champion Paper and Fibre Co. and a former mayor of Canton^ Mrs. Kerr was a member of Cen tral Methodist Church at Canton, j Funeral services were held in Central Methodist Church this morning with the Rev.
