For Legislation
Of Blood Tests

the use of blood tests for drunk
enness in the trial of drunken
driving cases Is still necessary.
Motor Vehicles Commissioner Ed
Scheidt said.
A recent Supreme Court decision
that the tests were "competent j
evidence" in such cases will have
' r,o effect at all" on his plans to |
ask for a new law, Scheidt said.

er's proposal would write into law
these provisions on chemical blood ,
tests:
1 A blood alcohol content of .05
per cent or less "shall DC prima j
facie evidence" that the defend
ant was not drunk
2 More than .05 but less than
15 per cent "shall be relevant evi
dence" but not prima facie evi
dence on whether the defendant
was under the influence of liquor
3 A percentage of .15 or more
"shall be prima facie evidence
that the defendant was under the
influence of intoxicating liquor"

Army Tape Is Cut

tape at the Army Ordinance
Center here. Mrs Ruby Finch !

parts. But she got tired of all the ;
paper work that came in from
Army ordnance posts.
She suggested that much of the
inlormaton be consolidated on sep
arate 150-inch tapes. The Army
said iter idea would save $9,000
a year in tape.
Although an Umbrella is used
mostly for protection against rain,

If a highway patrolman stops you
between now and Christmas, it
could be for several reasons, even
including that of handing you a
special patrol Christmas card.
Cpl. Pritchard Smith said the
patrolmon started handing out the
cards Saturday and would continue
until Christmas. The card has a
picture of Santa in a patrol uni
form. and an appropriate message.
A large number of the cards will
be handed out on Friday, Decem
ber 21. when a checking station is
established here in the county,
somewhere on Highway 19. There,
every vehicle will be stopped, the
driver's license checked, and a
Christmas card handed the driv
er.
