Helen Harkins Is Bride Of F. I. Miller Miss Helen Louise Harkins, daughter of Mrs. W. C. Rhodaoter of Canton, and The late Lloyd L. Harkins. became the bride of Fred 7 J. Miller. Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Miller, also of Canton, Sat I" urday at 7:30 p.m. in the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. I and Mrs. Brainard Burrus, on For rest Hill Drive. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. C. H. Qreen of Mars Hill, in the presence of members of the immediate fami lies. Traditional wedding music was used. The bride wore a waltz length gown of silk antique satin, styled with a fitted bodice, scoop neck line of Venice lace, and a full skirt. Her shoulder length veil of nylon tulle was attached to a pearl tiara, and she carried a prayer book topped with a white orchid. Mrs. Burrus was her sister's matron of honor and only atten i dant. She wore a waltz length dress of burgandy designed with princess lines, and she carried a nosegay of pink roses. W. C. Norris of Waynesville was best man. ? reception was held following ceremony After a wedding trip the couple will make their home on Allen Farm Road, Canton. Skyland Club Has Meeting The Skyland Garden Club held its annual Christmas luncheon Thursday in the home of Mrs. F. E. Worthington with Mrs. David Ling as co-hostess. Christmas decorations for tables, mantels, doors, and the outside, were exhibited by members and were judged by Miss Louise Bal lard( 2nd vice president of the North Carolina Garden Club, and Mrs. Arthur Pearson, district di rector. The members also brought tree decorations and gifts which will be taken to Dickson's Nursing Home where the gifts will be pre . sented to the patients and three small trees will be decorated. Guests, in addition to Miss Bal lard and Mrs. Pearson, were Mrs. L. J. Ballard, Miss Ray Ballard, Mrs. Julia McClure, and Mrs. Bert Wahlgren. Mrs. McClure exhibited arrange ments of greens. * ? ? Woman's Club To Meet Thursday The December meeting of the VVaynesville Woman's Club will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the dining room of the First Methodist C?hurch. A program of Christmas music f will be presented by the Fine Arts I Department with Mrs. H. B. Foy j and Mrs. H. L. Baughman in charge. Reports will be given on the dis trict meeting and special projects of the club. Hostesses will be Mrs. C. F. Kirk patrick. Miss Robina Miller, Mrs. J. R. Hipps, and Mrs. Charles Plem mons. * ? * Among the Western Carolina College students spending the holi days at their homes are Dale Rat clifle, Sylvia Camlin, Roy Phillips, Jr., Charlie Womack, Charlene Duckett, Judy Anne Wells, Norma Jean Sheffield, Aaron O. Yule Decorations To Be Judged Thursday Night Judging of outdoor Christmas decorations for the contest spon sored by the Richland Garden Club will take olace Thursday night. De cember 2b, according to Mrs. Wil liam Medford. chairman of the contest. The contest will include two divisions, one for homes and one for commercial displays. The lat ter will also be divided into two clasaif. cations for those which carry out a Christmas theme and those which are usual type of decoration. Registration will not be neces sary since the judges will tour the entire community. However, if there are persons who feel that they might be missed and particu larly wish to be judged, they may call Mrs. Medford at GL 6-8915. Lake Junaluska residents are especially requested to call Mrs. Medford since the judges will have a limited time and will be unable to cover the entire grounds in search for decorations. Cash prUes will be awarded in each division. ? * * B and PW To Have Christmas Party The Business and Professional Women's Club will hold its annual Christmas party Tuesday night at 7:30 o'clock in the home of Mrs. Jack Edwards on Overbrook Drive. Miss Nancy Killian, Miss Mar garet Boyd, and Mrs. Edwards are in charge of the program for the evening. * ? * Miss Linda Sloan, a senior at Greensboro Cdllege, has arrived to spend the holidays with her par ents. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sloan. Mrs. Tai Lee % Is Honored At Coffee Hour Mrs. J. K. Strlngfield and Miss Mary Lu El wood honored Mrs. Tai Lee. a new resident of Waynesville, at a coffee hour Saturday morning in the home of the former. During the first hour the hostes ses were assisted by Mrs. James L. Elwood, Mrs. Thomas String field, and Miss Martha Stringfield. Those assisting the second hour were Mrs. L. M. Richesot\, Miss Nancy Kiilian. and Mrs Charles Way. Christmas decorations were used throughout the house and the din ing room table w'as covered with a red cloth and centered with an arrangement of holly and red candles.
