The program is un _ der the direction of Miss Sara Hall. The young people of Olivet Bap x tist Church will present a Christ mas play, "What's the Matter With Christmas?" at 7:30 Monday night. The play is under the direction of Miss Martha Sutton, and Miss Sal ly Rich. The prayer band from the Olivet Baptist Church held services at the < home of Ballard Webb on Hyder Mountain last Saturday night. Mr. Webb has been ill at his home for sometime. J. W. Smith Is a patient at the Haywood County Hospital. He has been ill for about four weeks. Sandra Bradley is recovering from an appendectomy at the Hay- ; wood County Hospital. : f^fcr. and Mrs. Jack Bradley re- < ceived $220.46 from 338 pounds of burley, an average of over 65 ! cents a pound. j Methodist Youth To Present Pageant Sunday The Youth Fellowship of the First Methodist Church will pre sent a pageant, "Christmas Bells," Sunday night at 7:30 o'clock. A choir, composed of the entire group, will sing. Soloists will he Jimmy Fowler and Andy Owens and duets will be sung by Brenda Brendall and Bette Liner, and Jean Weatherby and Margaret Fowler. Ben Sloan, Jr. will be the nar rator and Mary Ann Fisher will be the voice. Mrs. Fred Calhoun will serve as organist. Pan Parkman is president of the MYF and is being assisted by Mrs. William Alexander, adult counsel or, in planning the program. Service Is Planned In Piney Grove Church A special Christmas service will be held in the new Piney Grove Methodist Church Sunday night at 7 o'clock. . The pastor, the Rev. Mrs. M. B Lee, will read the Chrirstmas mes sage. which will be pantomimed by young people of the church. The :hoir will sing carols. This will be the first day of services in the new church and the public is invited. Christmas Eve Supper Made Easy r CRABMEAT AND CHEESEBURGERS arc easy to prepare. Serve them on paper plates to save time on diah washing. By CECILY BROWNSTONE Associated Press Food Editor IF COOKING A BIG CHRIST MAS DINNER lies ahead, you may wish to make Christmas Eve sup per a simple affair. In this case, crabmeat and cheeseburgers are a good choice. With the burgers you might like a winter salad of finely shredded green cabbage, lettuce or romaine. thin celery crescents and small fan-shaped pieces of red (unpeel edi apple. The salad should be tossed with French dressing. For dessert, how about your own Christmas cookies? We suggest this particular menu because it can, if you wish, be served on paper plates. Go-along coffee or cocoa may be offered in paper cups especially designed for hot beverages. After supper you can go on to tree-trimming and last-minute gift wrapping without worrying about dishes to be done. CRABMEAT AND CHEESEBURGERS Ingredients: 1 can (6Mi ounces) crabmeat, V4 cup finely diced green pepper, Vi cup mayonnaise, 1 tea spoon lemon juice, 1 teaspoon pre pared mustard, finely grated onion (pulp and juice), drained sweet pickle relish, salt, pepper, 6 ham burger buns, butter or margarine, ?4 cup grated sharp Cheddar cheese. Method: Drain, remove cartilage from crabmeat and flake. Mix lightly with green pepper. Mix mayonnaise, lemon juice and pre pared mustard together; toss light ly with crabmeat mixture, adding ' grated onion, pickle relish, salt and pepper to taste. Split hamburger buns and toast lightly; butter cut sides. (Keep tops of buttered toast ed hamburger buns warm.! Spoon ! crabmeat mixture onto bottom toasted halves of hamburger buns and top with grated cheese. Broil several inches from source of heat 5 minutes or until cheese melts. Serve at once. Makes 6 servings. LAST-MINUTE FOOD GIFTS How about teaming cans, jars and packages of food for those 'ast-minute gifts? Here are sug ; gestions. i FOR A FAMILY?A package of prepared herb stuffing and some nuts (pecans, walnuts or Brazil | nuts). If the nuts are in their shells, 1 a nut-cracker could be included. Add directions: make up rich but tery stuffing according to pack age instructions or favorite recipe; add chopped shelled nuts to taste. Use as stuffing for a small turkey or chicken. FOR CHEESE ADDICTS _ A couple of varieties of interesting or unusual cheeses and a box of crackers. FOR ONE-BURNER COOKS ? A can of pears and a glass of mint jelly. Add directions: heat drained j oears in a skillet with a little of their syrup: fill pear cavities with mint jelly. Serve with panfried lamb chops or Iamb patties. FOR FOREIGN FOOD FANCI ERS?A jar of fine curry powder plus curry ,aceompanimients: a can of moist thinly flaked coconut, a can of salted peanuts or mixed nuts, a jar of Indian-style chutney. FOR SNACKERS ? A Jar of smoked oysters, one of pickled mushrooms and one of imported cocktail-si?e frankfurters, FOR SPICE ENTHUSIASTS ?
