The Dust-Slcrm (

. On Tuesday, April itiA," the
dust from 'the storm in the west
reached the Valley ' of Virginia,
Mfhlnh la hutiilrMltt. ftf milAfl from
the center of the. storm. About the
.middle of the forenoon one notlc-
ed that a haze was gathering along
the mountain tops. By night Jail
this haze had become so dense that
distant mountains could hardly
been seen. During ' the night a
heavy rain fell and, 'cleared the
atmosphere of the dust '- - 1
Many thought that the ..naze
was a fog which can often be seen
covering these mountains as warn
ing of rain or falling weather," but
the haze of April 2, was Of a yel
lowish cast which is very unlike
the grayish; fog which is so com

know that the storm Was so in
tense out west as to drive dust
clouds clear across the country.
This .section of Virginia is never
subject to local dust storms.
