Duplin County to know that the school officials of the county are helpless when it comes to a mat-' ten- of charging for the use of a' school building for various kinds of meetmps. fluperir.tcndont of schools Johnccn stated this week that It was his desire as well ss all principals and committees that the buildings be used by every person who desire them for a community purposes, but when it is used in the winter when heat is required or at night when light is required a small charge must be made as re quired by law. Reasons for making charges, as set out by the school, commission are as follows:.. "The charges made are in no manner, a charge for the rental of thej building, but, to -pay for vthe actual cost of operation of the school plant, which., has been, or will be, charged to State funds. The Janitorial Service, Fuel, and Water, Light and, Power provided by the State is for regular school work by State 'allotted 'teachers, and does not include any tunas for any activities similar to the ones listed oelowr Cafeterias,, Teachers- ages,. ' I Coast Line Foreman Arrested, Liquor "Capt" James Ezzell, section foreman of the . Atlantic Coast tilnf, located at Magnolia was nab bed by Sheriff ; Williamson, and Deputies, Dale and Pope last Bun- day morning at .his home with 11 gallons; of whiskey. He -was put un- der 3150 bond for. his appearance at county court Monday. Ezzell has been with the Coast line for 28 years and would have been retired on a pension. In ano ther year and a half. According to reports he will probably lose . his job. it . is said that he was drawing a salary of approximately S130 per month.' - , Officers stated that they have been getting reports on him for a year, but this is the first time they have been able to catch him. Ez zell stated that he had the liquor for his wife who was sick. He has several children. Johnnie Harrell Bound Over In : Death Accident At - a coroner's hearing here Monday 1 morning, probable cause was found and Johnnie Harrell of Tin City was placed under a bond for appearance at the next term of court, in the death ;of Isaao Brin son, near Tin City on November 29th. At the hearing evidence was brought out that Harrell was driv ing west towards Tin Citv about six o'clock in the evening and Brin son wan walking in the same dlree- tion Brinson, according to eviden ce of two' witnesses and Dr. John nie.
