Mr. Joe C. Maxwell ' is very
feeble, he is confined to his bed
part of the time. ', -.-
Mr. Durham Grady, who was
injured in a wreck recently, and
was taken to a Kinston hospital,
returned to his home in Chocolate
Sunday afternoon. We hope, for
him a speedy recovery.
Mr. Walter J. Ehue left for
Los Angeles California, Saturday
A. M. He accompanied his brother
wno is a lawyer of that place.
Mr. B, G. Maxwell visited his
brother J. C. Maxwell and other
relatives in Chocolate Monday af
ternoon. William Outlaw was a
long too, to see that he didn't Use
his two crutches too much. Uncle
Bob is just as jolly as ever since
his accident, in fact he seems to
be growing younger everyday.
Mr. John William Gooding and
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Ehue made
a business trip to Kinston Friday
night.
Mrs. Herman Outlaw, "Posie"
visited Mrs. Mabel Holt Friday
afternoon. It's always such a ple
asure toi have her in the home.
Miss Annie Maxwell and Mrs.
Magnus Outlaw made a business
trip to Goldsboro Saturday after
noon. Christmas is just r around the
corner now. "Old Santa" has even
come to town to look around and
find out what the children want.
Now. all of you little tots must be
sweet to him and yon should hang
up an extra stocking for him the
night before Xmas with a little
gift for him, he likes to be reme
mbered too.
Several of our relatives in the
colder regions plan to spend the
holidays in Chocolate. Dr.: S. P.
Watson and family; and Mr. and
Mrs. Bobert Holt of New York
j City, Eommie Holt of Chicago and
jOtners. We hope to have them
i present.
j Maxwell's Mill has been frozen
over ,which, indicates cold weat
her. Among those visiting Mrs. Mab
el Holtunday night were: Misses
Annie Maxwell, Euth Denning,
Alda Kornegay, Louis Keatheley,
bL L. Grady, Ben Frank Outlaw,
Hildreth Kornegay, J. F. William
son and J. Johnson. So pleasant
to have them all.
Mrs. W. J. Ehue and children
are with her parents while Mr.
Ehue is gone to California. -. J
There was an awful wreck at
Pink Hill Friday night, one man
killed and -another in an uncon
scious condition. Blake was the
name of one, and they were both
identified and their people notifi
ed.1 They lived near Wilmington
Our sympathy goes out tp their
loved ones.
Miss Annie Maxwell, Mrs. Mab
el Holt and Hildreth Kornegay
visited Mrs. J. C. Maxwell and
family a while Sunday night.
Mr. John Dave Grady has pur
chased the home of Mr. and Mrs.
J. W. Ehue in highway No. HI,
known as the Putsey Grady place,
and will be moving mto it in the
near future. Mr. Ehue may settle
