Presbyterian Auxiliary
The Ladies Auxilaryi of the Pre
sbyterian church met Monday af
ternoon in the Ladies parlor with
24 members present.
Mrs. Warren A, Smith, Presi
dent of the Auxiliary presided over
(the business and Mrs.. J. W. Far
rior, Secretary of Foreign Mlssipns
presented a very interesting pro
gram in the form of a pageant,
"The Church of Mexico". She was
ably assisted by Mesdames B. C.
Sheffield, J. E. Shaw, Jr., W. H.
Hitchcock, Sybil Nunn, Warren A.
Smith and Miss Nell Bowden. As
an added attraction special Mexi
can music was furnished by Mrs.
J. E. Williams and Miss Nell
Bowden. A special Auxiiary Birth
day, offering was taken to be sent
to Mexico for the purpose of pur
chasing christian literature.
Following the program there
was an enjoyable social hour with
Mesdames J. M. Peirce and R. H.
Best, Jr. . serving punch and cak
es. The ladies parlor was attractive
ly decorated with quantities of ear
ly Burner flowers.

Miss Hazel Strickland daughter
of Mr, and Mrs. Floyd Strickland,
underwent a major operation at
the Goldsboro Hospital Tuesday
morning and is getting along as
well as could be expected. .
Mr. Guy Observed
93rd Anniversary
Mr. Daniel Guy was guest of
honor at a family 'reunion Sunday
May 16th when he observed his
93rd birthday at his home in the
county. v
A bountiful birthday dinner was
served picnic style to over 100
relatives and friends.' Children of
Mr. Guy p.esent were: Mrs. Jul
ius Boone; Mr. Luther Guy of
near .Warsaw; Nathan Guy of the
Friendship Community; Mrs. W.
A. Staford of Goldsboro and Al
bert' who lives with his parents.
Mr. Guy is still active in spite of
his advanced age, being1 able to do
many chores around the home and
farm.
He has two sons in servce, Clif
ton in the Navy and Harold some
where in the War Zone.
T. E. L. Class Meeting
The T. E. L. Class of the Bap
tist Sunday School held its Tegu
lar monthly meeting Monday night
in the home of Mrs. George D.
-Bennett with Mrs. C. V. Gamer
as joint hostess.

presided and conducted the devo
tionals after which the membeVs
read various Interesting poems. -
Recently the class began a dr
culating library and at this meet
ing books were distributed.
